Well done harty for taking up the point. There was 6500 there today. That is poo. harty was right to say the Archer ect destroyd the fan base but it was going even before the end of the goldstone, and that was because the club did nothing to protect it.

DK has had the club for 10 odd years now, and yes Withdean does not help. I know I am a worn record on this front but can we see an effort to sell this club to Sussex. Thecommercial and marketing department are not achieving, and if there is a clear out, then there is an argument tthat they should all be given targets of what the club expects them to do, so to achieve a full house. Remember, the schools scheme is not one the club itself thought of and so what are the marketing department coming up with?

However, credit that they will be expanding the schools schemes into secondary schools, (so they should) but it should (but wont) go county wide.

Also they have to target pensioners in their promotional activities, and where they look to sell. its a big market and they will bring the grandkids.

The alarm bells should have been rung years ago, and the club has not done well in selling the club. Lets get this a priority. Yes we are probably down, but lets get the club busting a gut to use its potential market and get the club off the pitch sorted out.

As for on the pitch - well I dont blame DK. Apart from that he should not have sacked adams, unless there are things that we dont know. But leaving that aside, how many here knew that MA would destroy a passing team, and buy in a load of old hoofers, whilst insist on playing a centre back (Virgo) on the right wing ?!

Who also would have seen MA give Lynch to Forest whilst picking some old donkey in his place. Lets not forget Adams did well first time around, and so DK could not have seen the long ball disaster that Adams would be. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Thats where the problem lies, it has become Dick Tights personal club and he employs all his old mates regardless of whether their is a job and if they can do that job.

Has it changed from when he first took over?

Why sack Booker and pay him off with money we couldnt afford and then allow him to come back even if it isa reduced wage but I am only speculating on that one.

has the schools scheme worked then? we've given out lots of free tickets, kits, etc but will we ever see a return on this investment? The heavily discounted Junior Seagulls coach to away matches is regularly cancelled through lack of interest and when it does run it is full of adults. Do we see less Chelsea, Man U shirts in our parks - i don't think so.

I bet there are 1000's of kids/parents who will only ever go to matches when the tickets are free.

And why don't the non playing players do more to entertain the kids on match days? autographs, photos, etc.

Have things improved since Ken Brown joined? I don't think so.

In its first season, it has seen a many games lots of kids through the door that would not have been there. I think you are looking short term - and what do you expect after years of neglect?
The benefit of the schools scheme will not been seen properly until 5 years time.

Maybe IF Knight had kept tabs on Adam's career since he left us he would have know Adams was a joke who was hated by the Leicester and Coventry fans because of the crap football - and on BIG budgets at Leicester!

you can never get away from the fact that the product should sell itself. How many of these kids after watching a lacklustre defeat, in the rain 50m away from the pitch will want to come back?

i hope you are right about the kids - we've invested enough money in the various schemes and have done our bit to ensure retired fotballers are not on the dole.

It depends on ambition I suppose. I dont think it is a good crowd, when you have the catchment area of the albion. It will always be easier to get a crowd than a leyton orient of this world. We have no geographical competitor. Fingers need pulling out.

Exactly. Our attendance is average for our division, which given the quality of football, the quality of the stadium, the travel arrangements, and the prices charged; is something we should be proud of.

No idea what your other 117 posts were like, but your 118th must surely set some kind of record, well-worn or otherwise, for the highest number of crap points, crappily made.

3/10

.....lots of free tickets for kids today

Giving free tickets is not a marketing plan..it is evidence of a failing marketing department,

Individuals should have a geographical area and targets to produce a full house. If they then fail to make those targets, then they should be asked to use initiative, so to make their targets. If they are then not up to it, you then get someone who is.

Sorry if that sounds harsh

yes mate, nice for a constructive comment. Obviously you have a view on wat should be done, and so can we hear it?

Or do you just whine and moan without having the ability to think about how the situation can be improved?

Over to you, if you run the club what plan would you implement?

my comment referred to the reason we had a good crowd - not praise for the marketing dept

get the product right and the crowds will come back - product not price is key (unless prices are drastically reduced)

I'm with you jamie, the trouble is, it was the atmosphere of the north stand at the goldstone that got me hooked as a kid, even though I stood in the NW terrace until the last season!
