Dick Knight - Seriously, Is he fit for the job any more?

The strange fact the DK goes to a meeting with not intention of sacking the manager then at the end it is mutually agreed he goes.

Then the first time it is announced is about 10:30 AM on a Saturday match day.

I've not been plugged into the world, so I'll assume this is what Dick was quoted as saying. However, assuming this is the case, then that statement makes perfect sense. He went into the meeting not intending to sack him, but it would have had to have been one of the considerations on the menu.

Different saying that he is going into a meeting saying that Micky will definitely not be sacked.

Are you also saying that the meeting didn't take place on Friday, or that they didn't reach this decision until Saturday morning?

Other than that, not sure what you're saying.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
Its an unbelievably difficult job for DK to win regardless of what he does, the reality is that it always comes down to money, and if you weigh up the facts, 99% of the time he has come good, and lets face it, there are many similar sized clubs to ours in an incredibly worse state than ours and its not going to be long before banks just simply loose their patience with one club and many will come crashing down with them. I'm pretty sure DK's stewardship does not put us in that catagory, so for me he is most definately fit for purpose.

The chairman is presumably speaking on behalf of the board.
I'd like to believe that, but listening to the interview it doesn't sound much like he is using the royal 'I', so to speak.

Mike Bamber and Greg Stanley had huge egos and copped less abuse than Knight.

How many successful managers did they stab in the back and replace with someone who failed?

As I have been saying for some time now, he is past his sell by date, is out of touch, and sadly therefore its time to move to the presidents role. Wait for "but no one else wants it, look what he has done for the club etc etc". All good leaders don't cling on to power when their time is up. Bad ones sometimes do.

The drones on NSC are also well past their sell by date.
Get real.
In a recession lets expect massive investment in a club with an unbuilt stadium, 6000 gates and a town full of Chelsea fans.

If DK went to a meeting on Friday which he says he did and then realised after discussions MK and BHAFC needed to part company why wait till Saturday to tell everyone and presumably agree the decision when we had a match ?

Do you understand anything about the asset stripping that caused BHA to lose the Goldstone?

Who knows indeed?

What time did the meeting finish? Late?

He would have had to inform all the other board members, the management, the players of the outcome of the meeting. Could everyone be contacted? Doesn't Tony Bloom live in Australia? Is he there now? It's possible not everyone could have been informed by then. It's a shit way to find this sort of thing out (via the media) rather than properly (face-to-face or personal phone call). So you make a public announcement after all this stuff is done.

Then a press release has to be written and agreed. Doubtless Paul Camillin had a late night or early start.

One day your faith in DK will be shattered badly

I have never said a bad word about Knight, however my faith in him over the sacking of a manger after 6 months has shattered my faith.

Overall I don't think he's a bad Chairman..........but neither do I think he's a great Chairman.

I think he did OK in the past..(albeit incredibly slowly.....even from day 1).

I also think he is a combination of being too old now......too stubborn.......and too involved with the Falmer project now, to give his full attention to the running of the club itself.

This stuff makes me laugh - Uncle Dick is a total legend and bleeds blue and white - but you've got to be taking the piss there? The meeting finished on Friday afternoon. The players weren't informed until they got on the team coach. The press release was clearly written on Satdi morning - it was full of mistakes.

It is the typical line of Dick Knight's critics to say that the response will be that no one wants it. But you never actually answer the question and say who would want it or is there a queue of billionaire Brighton supporters queueing outside Withdean at the moment? From what I have heard none of the current board want to be chairman (probably because they see the harsh criticism Dick Knight gets from people with short memories) so the question is relevant.

But I forgot, it is popular to attack Dick Knight now and if you don't you must automatically be an idiot who agrees with everything the club says. Maybe if you are lucky Knight will go and we will get someone great in like Archer and Stanley.

I suspect Dick Knight is in a difficult situation where he's given the role of being the front man but is sometimes at the mercy of those pulling the purse strings who want to stay in the background.

Would you care to elaborate how that relates to my point of Dick Knight not using the royal 'we', or stabbing managers in the back?
