Excuse me but the new radicals were a one hit wonder with a SUPERB track. Dodgy hardly had loads of success and as shite as Toploader are they've hardly done anything ever.

Dear me. If you're after shite bands try wet wet wet.

Did toploader have "lots" of success? I remember oonly one of their songs, ditto dodgy, new radicals, baby bird, reef. Lighthouse family I remember more than one song but can only name one, savage garden had a handful of songs, but only two hits.

Tubthumper I've never heard of (unless you mean chumbawamba, who had a hit with tubthumping)

Some Pedantic wise asses within this thread (as ever, sigh) - I would argue that "success" is best represented by a big single or two, and solid top 20 album releases, which I'm sure most of my original list achieved, either here or in the US.

I would also argue that they were undoubtedly all completely and utterly shit.

Chumbuluwumbly - now they were shitiest bunch of shits that ever shitted out a record.

Oh and you can add:

Corner Shop.

I'd like to add Scouting for Girls they sound the same in every song. Lighthouse family had a few successful songs and as for Take That they are bigger than ever.

Chandlers Ford
Bananarama
That twat that went out with Kate Moss
U2
Most boy bands
Bette Midler (not a band - but f***ing Grammy for butchering "From a Distance")

Can't let that one pass. The Libertines in all their short-lived glory were brilliant, and could have been great had Doherty's self destructive tendencies not poisoned his relationship with Carl Barat.

A twat, for sure, but not without talent.

I find all the hype about Elbow, "The Seldom Played CD " nauseating

Dodgy wrote a few decent tracks (Found You, In a Room), though their career was blighted by Staying out for the Summer.

I'll put forward Keane. Urgh.
