Until Gary Barlow came along. Shame about Lennon, but he & The Beatles must surely be the most over rated group ever.

Paul McCartney was much better n his own, Pipes Of Peace and The Frog Song are well good.

Whilst I think the Beatles are the greatest band in terms of influence and legacy, Lennon was NOT (IMO) the best songwriter of all time by any stretch of the imagination. And he's only revereed more than Macca because he's dead (RIP)...

Load of bollox.He had a unique voice and wrote probably one of the most famous songs of all time.He also wrote songs that were simply brilliant which doesn't sound out dated even now.

Just because they came along 30 years beforehand doesn't mean they are better.

Thats like saying John Crumplin is better than David Beckham just because he played first.

Cant say I've heard of the bottom two but Jealous Guy only stands the test of time because Bryan Ferry covered it. The Lennon version is very dated.
