History has been made :clap2::clap2::clap2:

Now claimed over 270 of the Electoral College votes and it looks like a landslide victory for the Democrats

Please welcome the next President of the United States of America:

I'm happy, McCain is quite clearly George Bush dressed up as an old man. Who has ever seen them together?:lolol:

The world just became a safer place. But still lots of work to be done.

McCain delivered a great speech accepting his defeat, but the people he was speaking to showed exactly why he lost. I did not see a single non-white face in the crowd. Obama's crowd, on the other hand, is a sea of every race and colour.

Would agree that McCain's speech conceding defeat was very gracious and impressive and the people that booed when he congratulated Obama made themselves look ridiculous. Very interesting times lie ahead. Not least my ride into work tomorrow with my staunch Republican friend and colleague who will be more distraught than at any time since the Yankees blew a 3-0 lead in the World Series to lose to the Red Sox!

Watched the election coverage on BBC America incidentally and thought it was excellent. Much better than CNN and Fox which I flicked over to from time to time for a comparsion.

Gotta love the North Carolina vote.

As I write, it is 2100043 for Obama, 2086525 for McCain, a difference of only 13518.

Third candidate Bob Barr of the Libertarians has 25054 votes, which is more than the difference between the other two. Who'd have thought the Libertarians could have an impact in a race where over 4 million have voted.

Especially tough for McCain since Barr would most likely have taken votes from the Republicans.

not so different from last couple of elections where independent Nader split the fringe Democrat vote.

And this is what the USA is about. The next four years will be interesting for sure but as long as he listens to what his wide ranging demographic want then we will see a lot of good coming from what is essentially a pleasant country which has gone very very wrong recently.

The BBC had some great guests on last night. I love 'high-brow' intellectual political arguments.....they have a knack of sounding very school play ground-ish which is very funny at times. The posh US democrat to Dimbleby's right was amusing. He really laid into the Reps in an amusing way.

Just heard Obama's great speech on radio. I can't help but laugh about all the southern inbred rednecks and how they must be feeling today!

Sky news was a bit bizare around 5:30 this morning - they ran out of people to interview so they started interviewing other TV presenters.

Anyone whose desire is to run an entire country is immediately suspect in my mind. Black, white or yellow.

Last Time I Looked Only 4% Difference In Votes Between The Two Main Candidates, Not The Whitewash We Were Led To Believe.

Democrats Have Not Done As Well As They Would Have Liked Inthe Congress And Senate!

Considering The Economy, Two Wars, The Weakness Of The Republican Vice President.

I Would Say That The Usa Is Still A Republican Country In Spirit!

So there are no truly alruistic people in the entire world, Nibble? Not ONE person who just might genuinelly belive that they could make a positive difference?

How depressing.
