Just did this simulation in my history lecture, as a group we have been debating it for hours:

World War III has begun...a nuclear attack has been reported. You are one of ten survivors with a fallout shelter large enough to hold only seven people, with supplies to last this number over a three-month period. The seven people who enter the shelter may be the only human beings who will survive the war and the future of the human race will rest with them. The decision about who will be allowed in the shelter must be made quickly or all will die.

Choose 7 to live, 3 to die.

Are the biochemist, the writer and the medical student GIRLS?

Lose the copper [no use for him - all the CRIMS are dead], the rabbi [old] and the writer.

Keep me, the athlete and the husband, plus all the BIRDS.

Best chances of repopulation, innit - both the husband and myself have PROVEN SEED and the athlete should be healthy too.

Is the Hollywood "starlet" singer/dancer female? If so I chose me and her and kick all the others out, that way we could get some privacy and live for 10.5 months undisturbed. Job done.

Easy .... None of them, the Accountant husband will be arguing with his prengant wife, wanting to know who got her up the duff, the rabbi will be busy blaming the Palestinians. The Indian med sudent will be doing illegal organ transplants, the hollywood starlet shagging the male athlete, the biochemist probably created WWIII and the armed policeman will throw the famous write down the stairs. You're better off without any of them.

ps I reckon the other nine should try & get the gun off the Copper btw. If he shoots more than 3 in the process, it's job done. If he doesn't, then whoever gets it off him can shoot him & up to 2 others - but whatever the outcome of the attempted mobbing, chaos should be the deciding factor. IMO.

Yep, same numbers here.

The husband has already (we assume) placed his genes on earth.

The Rabbi is too old to procreate, will bother everyone with what's left to eat and if it's kosher, and won't be well versed in, or fit for survival.
He'll want everyone to do everything for him too. (oh sod it, he's jewish. There, I said it and now I'm a racist - but he smelled bad anyway, and kept denying Jesus's divinity the old testamented git)

A famous writer? Who needs anyone to write in the struggle to survive? Whoever he's/she's famous with - they're dead anyway.
