Coming back from a particularly dull shopping experience in Brighton we drove past the old Goldstone site. As we sat at the lights Mrs Giraffe suggested we could pop into JJB on the Goldstone Retail Park to get Sam's football boots. For a flash of a few seconds I thought how cool it would be to buy his boots from the spot where Peter Ward etc had plied their trade, so drove into the car park for the first time.

However seeing everyone in the car park shopping on a site which should be honoured for the joy it used to bring thousands and for the happiest times I spent there, brought a lump to the throat and I drove out immediately. Terrible feeling. How can it have happened. Sad times. I won't ever be going back and Mrs Giraffe has been chastised for her foolish suggestion.

Lots of people were shopping there sadly, truely horrible.

Good man, Giraffe, good man.

As an exile who doesn't visit Brighton that often I have only driven past the place a few times, it still brings back floods of memories and makes me cringe each time. I have never shopped there, and don't think I ever will.

Pathetic, It's one thing not shopping there, thats your choice. But wishing that the shops go bust leaving thousands of people without works is very very sad.
How would you like it if we wished your employer went broke ???

Since you were prepared to correct the dreadful mistake you made earlier today, I have corrected this one.

My eternal thanks (I can only blame the original typo on the tears in my eyes!)

Agreed.

I have no problem shopping there if needs must. Although I rarely do.

It's not going to bring the Goldstone back by holding grudges against firms that had absolutely no part to play in the grounds demise. :)

Onwards to Falmer. :falmer:

Shopping at JJB elswhere or shopping at JJB Goldstone, if it is the latter hang your head in shame.

I will not be hanging my head in shame.

I have supported the club for 33 years, through both good and bad.

I am looking forward (To Falmer) not backwards. :)

Oh, and I have never shopped in JJB sports! Toys 'r' us and Burger King for me. :p

Me neither allthough it did seem a bit odd the last time I went there given I was buying my nipper a new Chelsea shirt for his birthday.

f***ing hell, you've just made me realise that that kind of thing is now happening. f***ing glory boy people on our Goldstone buying bloody glory boy shirts. Sakes, it makes my blood boil.
