Is 'Booing' ever justified?

I'm not going to use the "I paid £25,000,000 for this ticket so I can express my views no matter what etc. etc." argument, but surely if the team is doing well and we applaud them, the players have got to accept that if they play utter CACK for 90 minutes then they are going to get booed.
These players are professionals, they shouldn't be mouthing off at the fans for booing. They should rise to this and prove the fans wrong by playing half decent football.

I don't think 'booing' is a fan's right, but surely if you play crap then what else can you expect? It's not going to damage their confidence, let's face it. If they have played poorly they they KNOW they are going to get booed.

Richards was completely in the right to mouth off at being booed by his own side's supporters while he was on the pitch and trying to create something out of a thoroughly wretched day at the office.

I only started this thread because there seem to be quite a few people on NSC who get on their high horse because they hear people booing. I just wanted others to restore some sanity on this board.

I agree 100% with anybody doing it at the end of a game but not during it, or better still at the end or even at half time a united chorus of What a load of rubbish!!

I think booing is definetely acceptable. What I don't think is acceptable is booing after one poor performance. I wouldn't boo after the Borient game but I did today. The way that Premiershite Top 4 fans boo whenever their team loses points is embarrassing. Lower league team fans should be sensible enough to realise that all teams have bad days, and it's only when you get too many bad days in a row that booing should be heard.

I've not been to a game yet this season and to be honest I've no plans to go as yet. I want to be a glory hunter, wait for the team to start winning then go.

Why....because I want/expect to be entertained for £23 !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Attending my first ever Champions League game on Wednesday, I was struck by both the volume and the visciousness of the whistling from 40,000 home fans whenever their team made an error (often nothing more serious than a slightly misdirected pass). 40,000 people leaping to their feet to deliver audible derision is an experience I've never seen at an English game. And this when Porto were dominating the game and leading 2-1. God knows what it would have sounded like if they had been losing.

It seemed to work, though. The players' mistakes weren't repeated. Which is more than can be said for this afternoon. Richards only got the bird when he'd got the same thing wrong at least four times.

I still don't like booing as I don't see what it achieves. I just didn't applaud us off today, that's all.

Not particularly in the mood to criticise all those that booed today though. I can fully appreciate the frustration.
