When I first got a video machine around 1982, and wanted to rent my first video, my missus asked me to get something she could watch.

"Its a wartime escape film" I told her.

I've got a very big problem with that film (apart from it being shit).

At the end when the Jerry takes that penalty and Stallone saves it he chucks it in the air and everyone rushes to congratulate him. What's to stop the schweinhund from just heading the ball in the net?

This ain't American football where you stop the play. Terrible terrible terrible film.

You can pick holes in the film that are far more valid than that, like

- why didn't the nazi bastards just start shooting the rioting crowd ?
- why was Kevin O'Callaghan due to play in goal ?
- why wasn't the kid who invaded the pitch with flowers not arrested by a steward?
- how did they play the second half in clean kit after going down the tunnel?

but the point is its just a bloody great film

Exactly What I was thinking. And was there no such such thing as extra time and penalty shoot outs back then?

Yeah and bit of a waste of time breaking O'Callaghans arm and they didnt even use Stallones plan in going down the tunnel.
