Why oh why has Adams been given a THREE YEAR CONTRACT? DK gets through so many managers it's utterly pointless. Keep him a year, gets bored of him and then fires him meaning we waste precious money on paying off his contract. Utter stupidity really.

f*** ME. f*** ME. f*** ME!

Bizarrely, i'm a bit mixed here.
Wilkins gone - madness! We've done well, we've come a long way. However, his football is dull and ultimately we've not looked like a team who's going up (which is ultimately his goal, even if the chances are slim), playing for draws against big sides. To sack him though - well, it's a bit ridiculous really. That's not to say i'm DELIGHTED though...

Adams - an EXCITING manager, a bloody LIKEABLE one too. But they say never go back...Wilkins has just destroyed the squad, while having bought in some of HIS players.

Madness.

Exciting times though!

Was just off to bed and saw this bombshell. Oh shit.
There must be more to this than meets the eye. All season there has been hints of un rest in the dressing room. the clearout at Christmas, players not getting on, people mouthing off in the press, all signs of problems, but with so many players leaving this season there must be more problems than just the manager?

I feel for Dean, he has done a good job this season and 7th place was ok for most of us. he has always come accross a bit weak though. Even as a player he was a bit of a pansy. Maybe he just isnt a man manager/motivator.

If he has not been at training for the last 3 weeks, it could explain the collapse of the team against Vale? That would have been when it all started kicking off?

Off sick a fair few times? Cant remember many good managers being 'off sick'
There is definately more to come out on this, I welcome back Micky, always liked him, but I fear 2nd time round this will be a much tougher job for him.

It will NOT be good for Wilkins to stay. However professional he tries to be, it's human nature that he'll find it f***ing difficult to work UNDER the man that's replaced him. If he's got any self respect, he'll go with his head held very high.

Maybe it's good for everybody concerned?

Wilkins gets to learn from Adams, Adams benefits from a decent assistant/coach and eventually Adams moves into a different role with Wilkins back in charge after a sort of apprenticeship....

It's happened so let's hope it works.

Thinking about this a bit more, it does seem to smack of populism by Dick a little bit, much like the sacking of McGhee (which I was in favour of).

Bloody Hell. Just winding down for a good nights kip then stumble across this bombshell! So it looks like the rumours of player / manager relations being poor were true. Shame we have lost Hart, Reid, Mayo, etc before Adams arrived. I wonder if he had a say in it?

Tomorrow we will be reading of Zamoras return - well maybe not!

Naylor seems to be hinting that Dean was suffering from the pressure of dealing with players and agents. If he really was failing to do his job because basically he is a good coach but not a good - or natural - manager, then DK has done the right thing at the right time.

More info before we go off the deep end. Would love to get some kind of feeling from Race on this.

It seems to be working (at the moment) for Keegan and the Geordies-let's hope we see something similar with Adams.

I still don't know what to make of it all...
