But Guy has just said that Wilkins has been missing for the last three weeks and the rumours were about at Xmas.

Wilkins is a decent coach but he is not a manager. I've said before there was a real problem with him regularly losing the confidence of the players and on many occasioins losing the dressing rooom. Players have come out and said this and it was also stated to me by a good source that works closely with the players day to day. Decent, honest bloke but lacks basic man mangement skills. Don't know if dick's done the right thing with MA, but time will tell. Exciting times.

Adams built his last Albion team around his old Fulham team, and Bobby Zamora.

We've just made space for 6 or7 decent signings, he's got no recent successful sides from which to recruit, and even at Albion had a track record of making some utterly toilet signings before Bobby arrived.

Regardless of your feelings for Wilkins or Adams, the timing of the change could not be more vital. One would hope that any manager appointed now would lead us into Falmer, so this could be the second most important management appointment of our history, after Steve Gritt. It may have been better to go for a bit of stability, a fulcrum and a focus for the players at least, at a period when so much else at the club is changing?

Some of those on here who are a bit closer to the inner workings of the club seem to be pretty happy about it - this suggests that there's some fairly dirty linen to be washed in what is likely to be quite a public manner, once Wilkins' inevitable (IMHO) departure runs its course.

I just don't like it one bit - I hope that whatever Knight's reasons are, they're bloody legitimate ones.

I have been party to one or two things that some 'insiders' on here were party to - people who would have had it straight from the horse's mouth, so I'm only 90% surprised rather than 100% surprised.

Still it begs the point on two levels. One, Dean Wilkins' tenure as manager coming to an end. I am not sure that this was totally necessary. And secondly, of all people to bring in... oh well, as I said, I'll always support the Brighton manager, but I'll wait to see everyone's statements and quotes before I decide on who - if anyone - is being completely shafted.
