kuipers - 7. couple of routine stops, kicking had a ludicrous amount of back spin today, although the wind may have had a large part to play in it
whing - 7. decent game, despite the needless booking
elphick - 8. did superbly against whatever target man he was up against
lynch - 6. some sloppy stuff, but generally positive
richards - 6. not enough time. hopefully not a serious injury as left back is our weakest spot
cox - 8. second excellent game in a row. thrived out on the right and did well sitting behind the front 2
thomson - 6. solid enough game
el abd - 7. defensively excellent game, and played a few shrewd passes which was a pleasant suprise
westlake - 9. superb. made a huge difference in that we now have two positive wide men
murray - 6. off side a lot and missed a few chances. his first touch is something we have needed all season though
forster - 8. worked hard and got the reward with another goal. great game

mayo - 7. solid enough, despite concerns. not sure i would want him in at left back every game though
hart - 5. seemed a pointless change. could have won the game 2-0 with the one on one that i seriously believe i could have scored

A "one-on-one" that was cleared by a defender.....

Admittedly, he should have scored - but he was never going to after a fairly horrific first touch- something that i'm certain you'd have been quite capable of!:jester:

he was one-on-one when played in. unfortunately, his poor first touch, coupled with the fact he managed to fall over nothing meant the defender had enough time to recover his position

and ill have you know my first touch is flawless :dunce:

Kuipers 8. A couple of good saves. Did everything required of him.

Whing 8. Good game. Silly booking.

Elphick 9. Fantastic.

Lynch 8. A couple of heart in mouth moments, but otherwise evcellent.

Richards 7. Playing well enough until his injury.

Cox 8. Best I've seen him play for a while.

El-Abd 8. One or two great passes to feet and an all round strong display.

Thomson 8. A bit anonymous in the first half, but a much better second half and some sublime touches.

Westlake 9. First time I've seen him play. Great.

Forster 9. Excellent captain's performance.

Murray 8. Not all his offsides were offside, but needs to watch them. Great in the air and on the ground.

Subs:
Mayo 8. Well done Kerry! Started the move for the goal and a very professional performance.
Hart 5.

Yep - and maybe a 9 for Cox too. The only caveat was the way that Donny played the one-touch footie near our penalty area. Too often we got caught out in the 1st half. Lynch had a terrible 1st 15 mins but then was very composed.

You know what - we haven't got too bad a team!!!:albion2:

I felt really sorry for Gary Hart
Doesn't play all year and then screws up what looked like a fairly easy chance. You have to feel for the bloke who has been a great servant to this club

Wherever The Mood Takes Me
Kuipers - 7 - Done well in difficult conditions for a keeper
Richards - 6 - Only on for 25 minutes so didn't have time to shine really. What was the injury?
Lynch - 8 - One half of a brilliant centre back pairing
Elphick - 8 - As above
Whing - 7 - Turning into my favourite Albion player, had a good game and his passion for the team is brilliant
Westlake - 9 - Outstanding! Correctly named MOM by the sponsors. Has everything needed from a winger
Cox - 7.5 - Done well in the centre although a couple of times he was guilty of passing before thinking.
Thomson - 7 - Went about his job quietly but efficiently - thought he had a decent game.
El-abd - 7 - Workmanlike & dependable
Forster - 8.5 - loads of energy, loads of running both up front and on the wing. Deserved his goal.
Murray - 7 - Looks like he & forster will make a good partnership. Very willing and able

Mayo - 8 - brilliant. Experience showed - contributed to the goal and made some great tackles.
Hart -5- A bit harsh maybe as he is short of match practice but should have relaxed our nerves with that chance at the end he missed.

I agree, Anyone who has played football and come on as sub knows it takes 5/10 mins to get into the game and to come on with 5mins left when he ws trying to make an impact and then gets a one on one within the first 2 mins is just unlucky!

Ok he should've put it in the net, and had he come on 5 mins earlier I have no doubt he would have done!!

Player Ratings: (5=average, nothing wrong, nothing special)

Kuipers- 7, Good saves and his kicking was good when the wind didnt get involved!
Richards- 5, didnt get long
Lynch-6 good second half, didnt start to well
Elphick- 7, Im VERY impressed with him this season
Whing- 7.5, would have got an 8 but for the Yellow, thaught he was very good and won everything, could have got MoM
Westlake- 8, Why have Leeds let him go come to us?? Quality and so very nearly scored goal of the season! I feel sorry for the defender that stopped that one!
Cox- 5, made some good runs in the middle and should have shot from the edge rather than pass as I felt he could have made it 2-0! gave the ball away too many times which is why he got a 5. Seems lost and doesnt know who to pass to when Jakey isnt playing.
Thompson- 5, didnt even realise he was playing in the first half, didnt do much wrong in the second
El-Abd- 7, thaught he did the 'dirty' job in midfield very well yesterday.
Murray-6, one god turn and shot that just missed in the first half, worked well with forster.
Forster- 8, What a quality player he is, and showed why he is the captain leading from the front. Great tracking back aswell.

Mayo- 7, always been a fan of Kerry's and doesnt deserve some of the comments he gets from fans. showed that he still has a role in the first team.
Hart- 4, He will be the first to know that he should have done better.

Overall, I thaught we played very well today and if we can play like that for the rest of the season then we should be booking train tickets to London for the end of May!!

Thats a big IF though!
