I was watching the highlights of the cup match between these two teams.

So - Coventry were wearing usual light blue.

Millwall were wearing their usual dark blue.

What's the story there? - surely it was a colour
clash. How can that be allowed?

especially when today Man U (red) - Spurs (yellow)
what's stopping Spurs wearing their usual white
red versus white - I don;t see a clash there?

Does anyone know the rules on this?:annoyed:

I thought any hint of a clash and it had to be sorted -
didn't we play a team who forgot their change strip
recently.

The ref must have a say also for his/her benefit!?

The Covenrty/Millwall one was strange. The clubs must be aware of what the home teams colours are although Millwalls 2nd strip is white but most teams have a 3rd.

I seem to remember Chelsea playing in blue at Coventry too.

Compare that to when we wore a special all white kit at Palace on that unfogettable night.

I have never noticed the Chinese type writing on it before perhaps my eyesight is failing me with old age.

Actually it is their 3rd kit, but their away kit does also have it:

I watched the highlights and thought the kit clash was an absolute joke - surely the referee could have stepped in and said no? - Most teams take change strips with them anyway ' just in case'.

I thought that it had more to do with shade and general appearance than colour, hence you don't see two opposing teams wearing stripes and the normal contrast is for one team to play in a dark strip and the other in one that is somewhat lighter.

We could easily avoid any confusion if clubs adopted the same practice as hockey teams in the NHL, the home team wear their team colours and the away side wear a strip that is almost entirely white with just club colour trim and badge...easy answer isn't it, pity football is often so clueless.

I saw the highlights, if you can call them that, on MOTD and I thought it was a disgrace.

i'm not sure that sky blue and royal blue are sufficiently similar to justify use of a change kit ...

equally, after watching the highlights, i did not notice any clash of shirts.

in regards to spurs, they were putting the shirt 'in the shop window' so to speak, i thought they looked very smart.

It is becoming more dificult when a goalkeeper wears an orange jumper and the oppopnents wear Red. It used to be that goalkeeepers could only wear Red, Blue or Green and the internationals wore yellow. Cheslsea started the goalkeeping changes, I think, when Peter Bonnetti wore black for an evening European game saying that it blended in with the light so that the other team couldnt see exactly where he was in the goal.

Random fact about Peter Bonetti, his family used to own the garage by the A24 at Washington roundabout.

Not sure how true it is but some Cov fans I work with were saying that Millwall fans demolished the city centre. So Millwall aren't that bad :lolol:

Six arrested over city disorder
Six people have been arrested after trouble broke out in Coventry following an FA Cup match.
Windows were smashed in Arena Park and some buses were damaged after violence following Coventry City Football Club's 2-1 win over Millwall.

There were also flashpoints in the Foleshill and Stoney Stanton Road areas where bricks where thrown.

Earlier, about 30 officers attended a pub in the city after fighting between rival fans ahead of Saturday's match.

'Locked the doors'

Some shops at Arena Park locked their doors to protect staff and customers after trouble broke out after the game.

One shopper, Linda Matthews, said she was coming out of Borders bookshop when a member of staff pulled her back inside.

"She dragged me and actually locked the doors and there were about 20 police officers in riot gear and everything else running along behind them (football fans)," she said.

"If she hadn't of got me back into the store I would have been caught up in the middle of it."

Pub fight

Fighting also broke out between Coventry City and Millwall football fans in the Flying Standard pub, Trinity Street, Coventry, ahead of the match.

West Midlands Police officers, some with dogs, attended the scene.

Some customers fled onto the street and have described bottles and glasses being thrown into the air and clashes between opposing supporters.

The Sky Blues took on the south London club in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday afternoon.
