Every pub of the same size pays the same amount, its in pricing bands. Its obscene, which is why every pub that can here gets commercial cable (no SS Extra, less other channels but way way cheaper) but I've no idea if that concept even exists in the UK.

Was in Greece last week and they were showing all the 3pm Saturday kick-offs. There was one Arabic channel called Al Jawarzi or something and also multiple 'SuperSports' channels, all with impeccable English commentary. Pretty impressive, has to be said.

Aye, they're much cheaper to get but also break contract and possibly copyright law (while conversely being protected by EU trade rules...) to watch in the UK or Ireland, so you're stuck paying Sky, Setanta, or both through the arse.

The 'Tap' and 'Crown and Anchor' both now have LCD sky sports now, the C&A will do you food and theres a new Deli between them both thats very nice

so no need to go to the Station

:OK?:

Ah, sounds like we're spoilt for choice now then? - last time we did this b4 a game The Crown and Anchor did good food but no live Sky games and the Tap did the football but no food.

If the C & A now show the footie then that may well get the nod as their food sounds good (well its gotta be better than a withdean burger!)
and to be honest the beer and food is more important than watching manure:laugh:

It is an absurd system that sky use to charge for the football, they charge on the square footage of the pub. As per the old rateable value.

Indeed it is, the music licencing system would make much more sense (turnover/attendance mix). There are massive sized "auld lads pubs" down the country that would make as much in a month as a smaller sports bar in a city might make in a weekend; and while the latter is relying on its sports feeds for its sales, the one down the country isn't.

I think that was the channel I saw in Turkey last Saturday when me and a couple of Wolves fans watched Wigan v Liverpool at 3pm (GMT). They went to a live beheading at half time, and I gather there were some stoning highlights later that evening.

Probably something to do with the amount of people that can then be in the pub watching the game. Bigger the pub, bigger the crowd, bigger the price.
