You could, I'd still say most of them have been in better form than him though, James, Carson, and Foster especially.

However Foster is injured, Carson is young and well personally I am not sure about him yet. Regarding David James, although his form is good at present, he has shown (Austria and Denmark away), that when he messes things up it is normally in spectacular fashion.

I am not sure Kirkland is worse than any of the current reserve options and so would have him in the squad. The problem is, whoever the other 2 keepers are, none of them seem good enough to challenge Robinson at prersent.

I agree with your general point, I just don't think Kirkland is any better than the other options any more. Of them all I think the one who has made least mistakes is actually Carson.

I have not seen much of Carson recently. When he was playing for the U21's he looked talented but raw. In a way I find it worrying that Liverpool keep loaning him out, yet he gets in the England squad, but then that was the same with Foster last season.

I suppose its better that he plays top flight football than not, apart from Seaman have we had a Keeper that has played for one of the better teams in the Prem?

It is true that he is playing. It just a bit worrying that the top teams do not seem to pick these keepers, but the national team does.

Often the England keepers have not been at the Top 4 teams though, Woods was Wednesday, Rangers and Norwich, Martyn was Leeds and Palace etc.

I think Foster would have been Number 1 at Utd this year.

But in the first half he [JCole] was along with SWP our best player, we're going to need creativity to beat Russia...

i wouldnt say best, but he was certainly creative and positive as always. i'm a big fan of Joe Cole, but he was off par and as i say in the second half became pretty anonymous. not match fit it would seem. its a tough call and for me the only question on the team sheet, everyone else from Saturday should start. this all assumes Hargreaves is fit, if not, then theres no question about it.

He always seems to fade in the second half for some reason
