I must apologise to all for my 'no show'.
To be honest with you all, I got my weekends mixed up and thought it was next week !

Mate, you done really well getting everybody together, and totally organised - Great Stuff.
Just like to say that somewhere earlier in the 19 pages of gumpf, you said you were probably the oldest team, consisting of mainly...ooo mid to late 20 year olds..
With an average age of 34, we comfortably beat you...that's about all we beat mind you..!
Your team were definately 'old school'! After watching your first game the opinion was 'they don't seem to pull out of much'.

i think the final was going to be a non event, when the crowhurst gang had an intense warm up, while Sporting Bad Haircuts were keeled over, with ever muscle aching, cramp in the legs, and the shorts glistening in sunshine

Stoney what a LEGEND. He was the dependable rhino type defender that made those important little tackles, and also could beat a player with the ball with his BLISTERING pace.
Was the Exiles own Roberto CARLOS. 
Hans Kraay FC A.K.A Simon Dependable...much alikened to the David Seaman's of our time, but in the end turned out to be the Exiles' Gigi Buffon with fingertip saves, saves-especially-for-the-camera, organising his defence and generally keepin everyones heads up !!
Ben A.K.A Bath Seagull...was the Exiles very own Steven Gerrard. Very vocal (especially when he missed) organisational skills to boot and even found his left with with a cracking top corner smash and grab finish. Inspirational skipper of the highest order.
Jaz A.K.A Jaz will go down as the dependable, hardy left back with a great vision for his through balls. Leighton Baines and Nicky Shorey should be quivering in their boots after witnessing game-in-game-out performances all day from this defensive wizard. The fans will now chant his name and ask who Ashley Cole ever was.
Sam A.K.A Chesney Christ was a coup of a player worth fighting for. Despite being late, after getting pissed the night before, and turning up just 3 minutes before the Exiles first kick off, he managed to bag 4 goals in the first game, leading him to 7 in the tournament overall. A quick player with a death-defying sprint and first touch to boot. The Exiles very own Paul Scholes. Midfield Maestro.
David A.K.A John Dorian remarked that he would be the Exiles' own Craig Bellamy and apart from starting a fight with his team mates he almost fulfilled this promise. A healthy 7 goal tournament for the young striker, still learning his trade, could and should have scored double what he did, but with the experience of having extra time on the ball, he would have taken the golden boot award home.

Apologies for some of those tackles, I winced at some of my teammates efforts but we had to make up for the lack of pace/skill/awareness/organisation/touch somehow.

I've just made it back to my PC here in sunny Merseyside, after driving home this morning.
In the build up to the tournament I told Mrs Stoney, that we would have a squad of 8 or 9 players so I'd probably play about 10 minutes in each games and I'd probably be able to cope with that. But imagine my horror when Simon said we only had 6 and I'd have to play all 20 minutes of each of the 4 games!
Then f*** me we got through to the semi's. So all in all I played 100 minutes, and yes I feel everyone of my 42 years this morning.
But in all seriousness Simon, a great day and really well organised.

PS Did I win the keepers gloves for guessing the total number of goals scored??

Hi Stoney. You did great. You didn't win the gloves I'm afraid - you were three goals short I think.
Jamie from our side scored 3 in the final to take him past someone from Albion In The Community to 10 goals.
I believe you lent the goals, do you know where you can get them from new, cost, etc? Thanks!!
