Why does this keep getting touted over and over again? The way some people go on about it you'd think it was a done deal.

They are not going to get involved and we don't need them anyway.

Move along now

I don't see how you can possibly know that for definite.

It's often been said on here that Amex, despite being a big employer in the area, are quite tight when it comes to this sort of thing.

But things change including key management, opportunities arise (almost a unique situation locally in this case), and certain individuals are very persuasive. And as a global brand they are not averse to sports sponsorship.

They, along with other big companies, should be sounded out and informally pitched. Maybe they already have been. The board wouldn't be doing their job properly if they didn't try.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not holding my breath on Amex - but in any 'sales' environment you have to be prepared to take the odd 'no' to get the big 'yes'.

By all means they should be approached, they just won't get involved.

They've had a presence in Brighton long enough now and have never got involved before. It doesn't fit in with their "core values" and if you look at other sports events they've been involved with you will see they're far more prestigious and snooty than football.

It's just boring to keep hearing people bang on about an "Amex arena". Aside from being a f***ing shit name it just won't happen so the idea's not even worth entertaining.

There are plenty more suitable avenues to explore however

Football is BIG BIG business.
AMEX are a BIG BIG business.

The new stadium at Falmer will get massive press coverage.

AMEX WILL be interested.

As I said on another thread ....

Amex don't do any football related sports sponsorship here or in the US. They tend to stick to posh sports like golf (Tiger Woods) and tennis (US Open). They don't even have a history of sponsoring stadiums/arena's in the US where the use of naming rights has been prevelent for years ... Football isn't a sport that aligns with their core market

If they were to buy the naming rights for Falmer it would be a real departure for them ... Personally I can't see it happening.

it will depend how much ££££ we will be asking for, if it is a good deal they will get involved, we could also ask Donatello's again I just loved the pizza shirts.

The stadium sponsor could well be one of the builders like the McAlpine stadium in Huddersfield, which I believe helped them offset some of the cost.

L & G are another possible as they are good supporters of the Albion.

Lloyds TSB are a big local employer, not sure how much they are into sponorship.

Maybe one of the big mobile phone companies who usually have quite a bit of money to slosh around? The '3' Stadium perhaps?

I was thinking Easyjet, or just the Easy group as a parent company.

The Easy Arena does have a ring to it

OK to all you doubters, I will bet RIGHT NOW that American Express do NOT name so much as a single seat in our glorious new complex.

If I am proven wrong may I sing Palace chants in my boxers along Village Way before our first match

I don't disagree with your statement.

Perhaps we ask CBRE to sponsor it, it could be called the Stadium of Natural Beauty.
