The idea is a bit shit but due to the size of it and the fact it has a built in clip it is ideal when you are exercising etc. At the end of the day most of the time I have my regular ipod on shuffle anyway so its no difference for me just a smaller unit that I can have in my pocket.

exactly the point geezer - if you upload 200 decent songs you wont give a f*** which ones plays in which order. be nice to have it mixed up anyway - nothing worse than knowing every song that is coming next!

live a little people! :)

Except you can do exactly the same on a video ipod but at least you have the choice. I'm actually well impressed with the shuffle mode, but only when I'm in the mood but I often fancy hearing a particular song after one I've just listened to. it would be really frustrating to spend 5 mins looking for it!

Many 1" vinyl discs will I need for my Emerson, Lake & Palmer collection? Are replacement stylii widely available?

Assuming you have a complete E L & P collection, including live recordings, demos and rare tracks, then you will need 42,378 1" vinyl disks. In all honesty changing them and setting th little needle every 21 seconds is a bit of a drag, and for that reason alone, I don't think these 'i-pods' will catch on.

You can get replacement stylii, but they are made by a team of dwarfs in a tiny factory in Switzerland, so supply is limited. Quality control is variable too, especially around Christmas, when the dwarfs cut corners so they can get off quick to their seasonal second jobs.

What link?

I remember there being ads on the old NSC, but I've not seen a single one since the new incarnation of the board came into full effect.

How does this place stay afloat?

And very well deserved.

Not only did you miss that point that you put YOUR tunes on the thing, you also managed to sound like my dad by calling an iPod a "machine".

Congrats! :)

I had assumed that there would be some sort of mechanism that changed the record automatically, rather like the "jukebox". As it is clear that this is not the case, I am not sure that this device would represent a sound investment. Not to mention the inconvienience of carrying 42,378 records around. I shall be sticking with my Dansette, it is plainly far more practical than this (undoubtably shortlived) gimmick.

Ahh, but they've thought of that. If you go for the 'Auto Package' you get one of the Swiss Dwarves included, and a backpack t carry him round in, so that he can change the records for you;
