A law enforcement source has identified a person of interest in the Minnesota shooting to the BBC's US partner CBS.

According to CBS and other US media, investigators are looking for Vance Luther Boelter, a man in his 50s who is from Minnesota.

Police found a list of more than 50 possible targets in his vehicle, CBS reports, including officials in Minnesota and beyond, along with abortion rights activists. According to CBS, there were also fliers for the anti-Trump No Kings protests planned for cities across the country today.

Just for the benefit of those travelling or worried about travelling to the USA: it may not be representative of the whole country given its reliance on tourism but I can report nothing but friendly people in Florida (and Boston). Immigration officials very pleasant and as usual in the theme park areas every single race, gender, colour and sexuality treated the same and with respect. Unlike previous visits not a single MAGA hat/t shirt visible and no obvious effects of the God awful president. May well be different elsewhere but just thought I'd report back.

Sounds like a Christian nationalist. I hope all Christian nationalists will be condemning his actions. Especially their leader who pretends to be Christian. Or maybe he will pardon him to really open the floodgates. Shocking.

I think what he’s good at is talking things up, promising the world prior to an event, the thing is hugely underwhelming and then he bigs it up again afterwards.

Lies > underwhelming event > Lies

He’s been the same with peace negotiations, tariffs, meeting world leaders, now this parade.

He lives in a world of bullshit.

Obviously the reports are biased but they are suggesting it is not the protesters that are turning violent.
