Straight outta Felpham
I've run a couple of ultra marathons before, and the idea to run from Sellhurt to the Amex popped into my head today while washjng up. Something do do for charity perhaps? To anyone's knowlage has this ever been done before?

Anyone on here interested in doing it? According to strava its 45.6 miles

I walked from my office in central London back home to Sussex two weeks ago, just to see what it was like - I went through Croydon on the way.

You need to plan the M25 crossing as the pivotal point. I centred my route around that and didn’t really plan the rest, just looking at my map as I went along (I crossed on a footbridge near Oxted - not the route to Brighton).

You don’t want to be alongside cars too much, but the countryside routes are longer and usually hillier. That will add some miles to the route.

My route was 43 miles and I’d had enough after about 37, but kept on at that point.

I floated the idea a few years back on the running thread of a marathon that (IIRC) went from the training ground, past the Goldstone, Withdean and ended up at the Amex, but nothing came of it. Id be up for reviving that – and possibly a Croydon-Brighton schlep, although I'm nowhere near match fit for a marathon at the moment, let alone an ultra!

How long did it take?

I couldn't run carrying a bowl of hot soapy water with one hand. Is your name Albert?

Have a look at the route Action Challenge use for their London to Brighton run/walk. It’s great and probably 75% offroad and goes over the Downs at Plumpton so dead easy to get to Falmer. I did the race a few years ago, it was 100km (from The Old Deer Park in Richmond) but passes near Croydon

Map here : https://www.ultrachallenge.com/london-2-brighton-challenge/

I can probably find my detailed gps track if it helps

I did a charity bike ride from the Amex to selhurst park, got taken out on the pitch at half time getting stick from my Palace mates. We lost 3 nil, wouldn't recommend that experience!
