Insane stage 1 of the Dauphine...

Sprint won by Pogacar, outsprinting Vingegaard with Van Der Poel third and Remco fourth ( Jonathan Milan 28th!)

Yes, a totally unexpected end to what was intended to be a sprinters stage.

Vingegaard attacking and being followed by the usual suspects destroyed the plans of all the teams that had been fighting for position.

It is getting utterly ridiculous that Pogacar is now even winning stages like this. He is just unbeatable, it would seem.

I've got 3 rides coming up this summer of varying lengths, and need some advice on tyres for my gravel bike...

This weekend I'm doing the London to Brighton (50 miles)
End of June I'm doing a Battle of Britain bike ride around Kent (90 miles)
In September I'm doing the Royal British Legion Pedal To Paris (a lot of miles over 3 days)

At the moment I have Schwalbe "G-One Allround" tyres on my bike (40c) which have a minimal but definite tread and I was wondering if I should move to 35c slicks. I like the look of the Panaracer "GravelKing Slick".

Will I gain much from the move to a thinner more slick tyre?

As my Marin Gestalt X11 is only 1x11-Speed, I'm also wondering if that is going to hamper me on the P2P ride?

Thanks for any advice!

I would say DEFINITELY go to slicks if its all tarmac! You'll feel like you're flying along compared to using the G Ones
Im guessing the P2P is fairly flat - but if you can cruise along in top gear without spinning out on your usual rides, it'll be fine with a 1x11. I have the X10 & can cruise along easily at 16-20mph before the cadence gets too quick.

Good luck with these - excellent stuff.

London to Brighton should be fine on your G-Ones - in fact I think the gains you’ll get from switching to slicks will be marginal at best.

Thee gear ratio on the Gestalt is excellent, wide enough that it shouldn’t affect you negatively on climbs (of which there are very few on the P2P).

I say stick with what you’ve got - a lovely bike.
