In a million years Duffus doesn’t get 5 goals and two assists this season like Adingra has. I am baffled at the level of hype we are putting on a player with almost literally no first team action.
We haven't. What we're having is called a 'discussion'.

I think my argument here and I don't fully agree with it, but I referenced on another thread that we seem to be losing our best prospects as they can't see a pathway. For all the praise we have had of bringing through talent, its a worrying trend that this has happened, I think with the big money moves it definitely makes us a less attractive prospect for some young players in the academy. I think for all good Fabian has done, I've been very disappointed with his lack of minutes for Academy players (albeit because of the plethora of attacking talent we've had so far).
I think when you are under that much pressure to produce results you are going to play your best players. There doesn't feel the leeway for him to be that experimental (and it wouldn't necessarily be a great environment to throw kids into, see Gruda). Its pretty clear that many fans simply want results, results, results.

And anyway there is no doubt that Minteh, Gruda, Hinshelwood, Ayari, Baleba, all 19 or 20 when the season started, can be considered young players being brought through, even if several of them cost big bucks.

They also need to be good enough to play, which is the great unknown. Hinsh is, presumably Duffus just isn't yet. I think its interesting that the 33 players younger than Jack Hinshelwood to make a premier league appearance this season largely come from the 'big' clubs. Arsenal have Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri, Man United have Yoro, Mainoo, Amass, Obi-Martin and Heaven, Spurs have Bergvall, Moore and Gray; Man City Simpson-Pusey; Chelsea Guiu, Mheuka and Acheampong. 14 from those clubs, with academies that can hoover up talent. 5 from Leicester and Saints, the other 14 scattered around with just Potter's West Ham, Brentford and Bournemouth having more than one (Dean Huijsen younger than Hinshelwood, blimey....)

I am not hyping him, I know nothing about him. It was more a comment that we have some dross in our squad that I am sure he could have done as well as.

FWIW Adingra has 2 goals and 1 assist in the Prem.

As with Noel Atom offering a new deal is a mechanism to get a fee when he signs elsewhere as he has seemingly indicated he will

Risky tactic as we can only get a fee (either through negotiation or tribunal) if he stays in England. If he goes abroad (Marseille are said to be interested) we’d only get the standard training compensation fees.

But you are accusing the club of acting badly….. suggesting that you are somehow in the know…… then refuse to explain.

What transfer?
There’s not a transfer, I just think his development and seemingly inevitable release has been poorly handled. I’m not saying the club have acted badly, I just find it odd, a player who is fit, and contributed double figures in G/A for the U21 mysteriously disappeared from the team even though he seems to be training. Just think there was a player in there, and the club could have handled his development better. Not suggesting any wrongdoing just think we could have done more with him.

Yet you just said...

"Club has handled this player with all the grace and decorum of a reversing dump truck in all honesty."

Eh!? How does that work then?

I think the insinuation, was that I was suggesting they did something illegal. That wasn’t what I was saying, just that I don’t think they handled his development very well. I expect to see him tearing it up in Europe somewhere if he is released, and I think we missed a trick. Apologies for dramatic edge, The grace and decorum reference is to come dine with me.

He was in and around the first team squad last year but still only made 1 sub appearance? Given how many injuries we had, if he was any good, surely he would have played more?

I don't think anyone who follows the U-21s would attempt to argue that he isn't a good player. This simply comes down to him choosing not to sign a new contract. He is absolutely entitled to do that; and, in turn, the club are absolutely entitled to then decide not to give him playing time.

So, what did the club do with all the finesse of a reversing dump-truck then? They offered him a new contract in December - January time, and he refused it. So, as he's leaving, by his own choice, this summer without us getting a transfer fee for him (although I think we'll get that development fee thingy) why would we play him rather than give the lads who are staying, or going out on loan, some more game time?
Of course, none of us on NSC know the full story, but how exactly do you think we have mishandled him? Because on the face of the known facts, I can't see where we have at all. Unless you know something more - over to you.

On known facts I just think we should have given him more guarantees to a first team pathway. I worry that some of our top talents seem to be left behind for expensive shiny new toys.
