As the thread's been bounced, I'll add a couple of lovelies... sadly both no longer with us.

A work colleague once met Sir Bobby Robson on a train journey from Newcastle to London (colleague joined the train at Durham and found himself sitting opposite Sir Bobby). He tentatively said hello and just asked if he thought England had any chance of winning the upcoming international competition (must have been the 2004 Euros) expecting a "yes I think we'll do quite well" but actually had a very extensive chat about the ins and outs of football.

Going back further (to the 1970s/80s) I had the pleasure of meeting TUC Gen Sec Len Murray on several occasions - a very pleasant, kind, gentle man.

Lovely, her and her husband at that time. Long story, but, I was in a pub near Victoria Station, I had broken bones in my neck at the time and was in a neck brace. Her husband started chatting to me while he waited to be served. Bought me a drink and invited me to join them. Lovely couple, she was very posh,we sat and chatted for so long I missed my train.

Keith Floyd
Absolute shit.
I took part in a Floyd on Fish programme while in Petty Officer training in the Navy. Really obnoxious to his assistant, who did 90% of the cooking. So much so.a corporal in the Marines, also on the course threatened to deck him.

Floyd had a pub very close to where I grew up in Devon. He was renowned locally as being hard work.

Saw this thread so I thought I would follow up! Dont know if the "Multi Quote" thing has happened or not.
But with Ref to BG. A truly horrible drunk. My son worked with him. Son was eventually paid off by employer and had to sign an NDA to not disclose what he was like. "Hes the star, we cant sack him"
On the same publication, Lars Sivertsen is a top guy.

Who is BG? Sorry, I went back to the Start of this page and couldn't guess.
