UEFA have their rules

And we know they’re happy to ignore them when it suits. Add this to the luckiest club in the world and their history of ill-deserved triumphs and we all know what will happen.

If I was a Palace fan I'd feel very angry at the club's administration department who failed to follow the requirements that were clearly stated to all clubs.
It looks like shear incompetence that could cost the club millions of pounds.
I think UEFA will find a way to let Palace in despite their failure to have done what was required.

Possibly Europa League cancellation, losing some key players, and no sign of a start on their new stand.
The next few weeks could be very interesting at the Stad de Clad.

TBF - I think the only way this would have worked was if Textor had completely disposed of his shares before the 1 March deadline .

That process would have taken a few months - ( as he never had the authority apparently to put the shares in a temporary blind trust as Man Cited and United did)

On 12 January, Palace were playing Stockport in the 3rd round of the FA Cup and they were out of contention for any other route to Europe.

Disposing of a major shareholding interest in a PL Club is a significant decision and maybe not one that was envisioned as being very likely necessary back January.

I think UEFA will find a way to let Palace in despite their failure to have done what was required.
I think he will have to have a firesale unless he can prove that he had no controlling influence on the board of directors.

I think it will send out shocking ripples among the football world if Man City compete next season with a very drawn out decision pending for years of falsifying accounts and corruption, yet Palace are ’immedately’ barred.

UEFA will do what they think is “right for the game” - whatever that is.

And we know what that means 🤷‍♂️

I reckon there is about as much chance as Margot Robbie knocking my front door this evening but it's fun whilst it lasts.

He doesn’t need to completely dispose of his shares, but lower them from 46% to 30% like Tony Bloom did. The problem is that the deadline to do so was March 1st.

Why should it be? They have broken the rules
Exactly.

To qualify for a UEFA competition, you need to do the business on the pitch and also have your house in order off the pitch.

Palace have done the first bit, but completely neglected the second bit.

It's not a surprise that has been sprung on them, though - all clubs know the rules - Palace chose to ignore them. Presumably because they thought there was little to no chance of them doing enough on the pitch for it to be a concern.

At a guess, I would expect to see all the clubs who qualified in Europe.
Silly question.

It’ll be Palace. And it should be Palace.
I’m sure they will sort something to satisfy the rules.

But it would be funny.
Curious as to why you think Palace deserve to keep their place.. Sure, the team qualified in a very emphatic way, and I would be very agrieved if I were a player or a fan. UEFA introduced these ownership rules for a reason, so they are either justified and necessary or not. It's no good having this rule and then saying, 'yeah, you know what we need it, but hey, let's not enforce it this time, in you come. Just don't do it again'

All the wailing and hair pulling reminds me of when Stevie Foster was banned for the FA cup. Absolutely unfortunate as it was, he was bang to rights and the FA had no choice.

That being said I suspect the reason for the long delay in announcing the decision is that there has been a deal done to give Textor time to sort his mess out

If UEFA is giving Textor time, then they’re breaking their own rules of a March 1st cut off date.
