He looks like he's got pace and has obviously bulked up a bit this season, now starting to look like a bit of a unit and obviously knows how to finish.

He'll do well on the wing for us, but may also have the presence to play as a no.9.

Scoring off the bench in stoppage time to win the match!?

Don’t care where he plays, he fits FH’s substitutions playbook perfectly.

My opinion on him has not changed, I would have never jumped shipped from this club so quickly, the opposite actually, I'd give me teeth to play for it.

Brilliant goal which makes the situation all the more sad, he could have gone down as our greatest player with the amount of skill he has. I have watched him since he was 7 or so and have no doubt he'll be playing regularly for England, he's in the top 5 best youth players I have seen for us.

There is no better place for his development than here. He'll might even get loaned back to us next season as opportunities will be limited at Brighton.

Alright Tommy you’ve barely left yet!
It may be in hindsight that he could have waited a while before signing for us as it must have been too tempting to jump ship early to guarantee PL football and a big pay rise. For his sake I hope he doesn’t regret it as he seems the right sort of player we develop and move on for big bucks. Leaving your home club at that age is a big step.

To their credit, they still rather like him - £10M transfer and a £200M sign off. Think he's more likely to go on loan next season rather than break straight into our first team - loan back to them wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, would it?

He is still breaking through at Sunderland and something of a fringe player - a regular sub but only occasional starter. They will be desperately scrambling for experienced players in the battle to stay up next season and the probability is that their promotion would work against his continued development if he stayed. Coming to an established top-tier side (still really weird to say that) he will be viewed from a different perspective. Even if he is loaned out it will be because we are focussed on his progress not on our survival.

Aren't fans predictable. We've done the same on here. We expect undying loyalty from players and castigate them if they move on to further their career, but we'll drop them like a shot if a better option comes along (move on, out on loan, not good enough etc).

Was always the case and always will be. Sunderland fans taking his move to us as a personal rejection.
