And there was me thinking that the Welsh couple from Wales might be binning the race soon because she isn't mature enough to handle a crowded city.
Really? Nothing to do with maturity, some people just can't stand the hubbub of city life. And maybe she knew that and still put herself forward to face that!

Even at 18 it isn't easy, her first time in a mad crowded city, many thousands of miles from home, where not many people speak English.
Good job they don’t only speak Welsh! I went to a talk by Nigel Owens last year and he said he only spoke Welsh until some really late age, probably late teens from memory!

Are you suggesting that where they are isn't like a small village in Wales? I'm surprised they haven't thought to say so themselves.... ;)

Just caught up with this week’s episode, thank goodness I’m not alone in being irritated as hell by the Welsh teenagers
Whilst you're sneering and looking down your nose at them, might be worth asking how much of life outside Wales they've previously experienced and how far out of their comfort zone they might find themselves.

Personally I think they're doing very well.

I was enjoying this series as with all other (non celeb) series until it became apparent that there had been some piss-poor planning of the route and all the competitors had to board a plane mid-trip.

Defeats the object doesn't it? And MORE (unnecessary) plane travel is hardly what the world needs.

By that token, I would then ask what exactly it is they thought they were signing up for. Race Across the World from Holyhead to Bristol would be rubbish.

If they just wanted to be on telly then let them go and do Love Island or Big Brother or something.

Harsh, they are pushing themselves out of their comfort zones, and l applaud them for it.

One of my colleagues lives in Cardiff and their kids play cricket at a decent level. Apparently whenever they get drawn against against a team in North Wales, the logistics are so difficult that often the game ends up getting forfeited. So a trip from Holyhead to Bristol would probably be a bit too difficult to cover in Race Across the World, better to stick with countries where the transport infrastructure is a bit more developed!!

I like all the people in it this time. The Welsh kids need a bit of a break though as they are so far behind now.

The welsh girl (won't even try to remember / spell her name) seems to be weeping her way around the world, which is starting to grate a bit. And I'm getting quite bored with the two sisters "finding themselves and exploring their relationship and boundaries", blah, but I suppose thats all part of it. The two brothers are great fun. I'd have been all over that zip wire like white on rice.

Good series, and some genuinely spectacular, eye-popping vistas. I'm a sucker for a travel show, and this is one of the best.

Surely Africa has to be one of the next series, though there may well be a few political and other insurrections to dodge here and there so might not be ideal from that perspective!

I'm quite sad that the ex-married couple have been knocked out as I found their back story really interesting.
This is the worry, the backstory and " Mission Statements " are taking a bigger priority each series. The object of the program seems to be less and less important. The first couple eliminated cocked up, so tough.

Yep, probably not a lot and if anyone hasn't been to one of India's big cities, you may not understand quite what an intense experience it can be. She'll be the better for it in the long run.

Same thinking here. Such an intense - and incredible - experience. Plus editing means we only see a tiny bit of what is actually happening. The program makers will be looking for bits of emotion and stress to show.

Well done them I say.

We went to watch the current series and ended up sitting through the first one (only realised at the end). Then we started watching the new series and there seems to be a bit of a shift to make it a bit more about the people than the actual race. It's also hugely and frustratingly staged – if people were really that fussed about winning the race, they could surely do it a lot quickly if they didn't go off to explore ancient temples, or other places that they fancied seeing. And that's not talking about when they have to get jobs to earn money and stuff – I get that takes out chunks of time. And, funnily enough, two or three teams often end up arriving at the checkpoint at roughly the same time after a whole week of travelling...

I'm not saying I don't enjoy it, because I do. But you have to allow for the fact that it's part travel show, part 'race'.

And made for entertainment purposes. It’s good easy viewing.

Haven't watched this week's episode yet. Got a bit demoralised after last week where part of the trip got filed under "too difficult" and all the teams flew from A to B (without apparently impacting on their budget) which kinda undermines the whole purpose of the endeavour
