I doubt it.

AFter Tony complied with the rules, The following season, United ad City developed the workaround of Blind trusts, to prevent them from having to change their level of ownership.

There was no legal action after that.

We weren’t in the mix for the European place that season.
Could make a difference.

No - Forest are using it this season.
Thaey have added the deadline of March 1st, which neither Forest nor Palace have complied with
Indeed interesting about Forest unless they submitted their intent prior to the deadline and the legals took until April 29.

Exactly this.

We all know UEFA aren't going to want to ban a Premier League team from the competition.
A compromise and a small smack on the wrist is how this will be resolved.

But a couple of weeks of watching Palace gnash their teeth and get angry at their shambolic ownership, helps knock some of the gloss off their "historic" FA cup win.
Given that FIFA had to remove a club from the CWC this summer because of the same rule might make wiggle room an issue

Didn’t someone else say they had closed that loophole?
Not sure but Palace haven't used a blind trust to get round it, they've literally done sod all. It's too late to do anything now, the cut off was 1st March. TB might not kick up a stink but I suspect the Forest owner will.

If you can wriggle out of it simply by putting shares into a blind trust, it's a totally pointless regulation to have.
The only issue UEFA have with two clubs with the same owner is a conflict of interest. A blind trust solves this, so it isn’t totally pointless.

Indeed, the Forest owner has put the shares into a blind trust. Appointed a trustee to run the club and isn’t even listed as a director anymore. He just needs to avoid running onto the pitch to shout at the manager and everything should be good.

Isn't part of the point of a blind trust that the person/people who put an asset into it have no knowledge of the asset's value or how it's being run? Which isn't really possible if it's a football club competing in a major international competition.

I'd get it if it were purely a financial issue, but I'm not sure how it solves the problem in a sporting sense.

But if the blind trust is only for one year, then presumably the 'owner' is still, in reality, the one in charge?

Legally they have no control over the club while it is in a blind trust. The trustee runs the club however the see fit and the trustor has no authority at all. If it was found the owner was still exerting control then worrying about UEFAs multi club ownership rules would be the least of their problems.

Presumably though, the trustees had it all back to the owner after a year? So, they'll probably know what he/she wants to happen.

Anyway - all sounds a bit fishy to me.

I don’t know if Forest have only done it for a year or not. I’d imagine as he owns a club in Greece that almost always qualify for some sort of European competition that moving Forest in and out of a blind trust could be complicated as their qualification is likely to be more uncertain they may not be in a position to end the blind trust come next March.

What’s fishy about plaice-ing control of a club into a blind trust?

As usual, the big clubs find a way to get around this. There’s one Mackerel for them and a different one for us.
