So a new 100000 stadium being built as part of Old Trafford regeneration project. How are they paying for that then?
By borrowing even more against the Club which is already £1bn in debt? More investment from Radcliffe’s own port folio and ‘foreign’ investment?

The insanity of saddling the Club with such expenditure is only surpassed by the insanity of building what looks like a cross between a Bedouin tent and something out of a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale.

In truth, I think Man Utd clearly needed to review their operational costs and having 400-500 permanent members of staff is extreme. If you assume an average wage of 20k PA, getting rid of 200 of those people will save £4m per year and that's significant. Obviously, they need to look at the higher earners and that is why Rashford was shooed out of the club on loan, as was Antony. Sancho was binned in the summer.

All of the interview is eye watering, but the idea that they're paying out £89m in transfer fees in the summer window even if they don't buy anyone at all is incredible. The squad is absolutely useless. Even if they had everyone fit and available right now, they'd be struggling to get into the top 10. They'll never struggle to recruit players but they are going to struggle to get Casemiro and Onana out of the door. And then they've got Rashford to come back in the summer, and Sancho and Antony. It's going to be a messy few years, financially.
...and they say football finance is boring. All thoroughly entertaining from where i sit.

Someone will do a podcast about it soon!!

Big changes to infrastructure, "revitalization" of the area, increased tourism, work opportunities... in short, benefitting all of Manchester! Maybe all of England!

Also known as "the tax payers will sort it".

If forum threads could be accompanied by music, this would be Elgar’s Nimrod.

Sussex based Manure plastics, middle aged men, would’ve had planned to proudly wear their Yawnited tops round Churchill Square or other town centres today. Instead it’ll be a day furiously typing away against the Glazer’s, polluting Jim, Amorim and Keane/Neville for telling the harsh truth.

Talking of which, I saw a bloke in a Palace shirt on Brighton seafront on Sunday morning. And I actually thought,“fair play, it’s the one day in your lifetime you should be allowed to get away with it”.

(Followed quickly by “now f*** off back to Croydon”).

I've worked with several Southern-born Manure fans in Sussex and Devon. All of them have been (and probably still are) wankers.

Fascinating clip from last night of Sir Alex greeting Rio Ferdinand, with Avram Glazer & Sir Jim (looking shifty trying to avoid eye contact.) Utd fans not happy with Sir Alex being close with them given it was him that got the Glazers involved..

There's something beautiful about all this after offshore Jim sacked the tea lady and others earning a pittance within the club in pursuit of cutting costs

I sincerely hope that a seagull had a huge dump on that shirt before he left.

Unfortunately that's how cost cutting in the Public sector works as well. Sack 5 TAs, 2 dinner ladies and the lollipop lady and save half one assistant Heads salary.

Capitalism always demand it's the poor who face the risk, comrade. If times are hard the rich will make more than they ever did.

But I'm intrigued as to how this leaves the Man Utd transfer kitty this summer. They've been linked with half the decent strikers in the PL. Are they going to have to sell in order to buy anyone? I'd love to see it. It's so long since they've had to be canny in the market instead of just relying on sheer weight of money for transfers and wages, that I doubt there is anyone there who would have any idea of how to do ti.

There’s a strong argument that Ferguson welcomed the wolf in the door with his obsession with money and horses.

Look at the squad and who they could sell for good money and it's a pretty short list

Rashford/Garnacho/Bruno/Amad/Mainoo are about the only ones

Ironic that Ferguson got the United "brand" to the very top of the game, and now they're more of less where he picked them up in part because of the whole Rock of Gibraltar mess. If you were being super harsh, you could say that 40 years on, Man United are worse off because of his influence in the selling of Magnier's shared to the Glazers

Other than Rashford (the Villa one, not the United one) I don't really rate any of those players. Amad and Mainoo have potential, but would either tear it up at, say, Fulham? Or Brentford? Or Brighton? The tag of being "the next big thing at United" carries FAR more prestige that it should
