Just done a deal on an 18 month old Skoda Enyaq Coupe vrs in the lovely copper orange colour so I won’t be losing it in a car park easily.

Need to get a home charger ordered. I’m already with Octopus so is it better / easier to do it through them and if so, which is the best of the charges they offer?

If not them, any recommended local suppliers and installers?

Thanks

For Octopus compatibility I’d suggest Zappi or Ohme. Not necessary to do it through Octopus, but I can’t help you with local recommendations.

We have the Ohme Pro. Integrated with Octopus. Works seamlessly
Since last Friday, we have the same setup and experience - utterly seamless. The Intelligent Go tariff is good value, with overnight charging at 7p per kWh.

I’ve also got the Octopus Electroverse app and RFID card, for when I want to use a charging station away from home (like the one on the A27 between Lewes and Falmer).

My EV love affair knows no bounds at the moment.

I have a Hypervolt, which works seamlessly with Octopus.

For installation I can recommend https://www.orio.me/

Do you guys have solar as well?
Can you charge directly from solar during the day, as well as cheap overnight?

I don’t have solar, but with a south-facing garden/house, I’m considering it for the roof of the new room which was built above the garage last year.

Heads up if you have a VW-group EV and solar panels.

VW have a flaw somewhere that means the car won't wake up to accept charge properly if your charger is set to only charge from solar generation and starts flip-flapping between charging and not charging. I never had a problem with my Zoe, but the VW I'm having no end of trouble now the sun's producing. Run the kettle, car stops charging due to the kettle drawing all the solar, kettle stops, solar generation is available again ... car won't charge and all the power is being dumped to grid.

Affects ID.x range, Skoda's (eg the Enyaq) and some other VW group EV's that share EV platform parts.

Id3 is one of the cars I'm considering.
Along with Kia Soul and e-niro
It's a lovely car. Other than some software snags. The charging issue as mentioned, and I've previously mentioned in this thread re android auto (won't let me choose to play radio if AA is connected) and it always defaulting back to Comfort drive mode on start up (we always use Eco).

Another vote for Ohme home pro but I gather that a lot of chargers come with recommendations by their owners. They are good kit in general.

Thanks, Octopus have a backlog for installs so reckon it will be 4 - 6 weeks, Olly from Orio is coming to assess in a couple of days.

Nearly 4,000 miles later, I'm really enjoying the ID.3. Loads of room, plenty of performance and decent driving range. In fact, I was with BMW yesterday and a couple of the tech guys were looking on with disbelief that it could reach 350 miles from a full charge!

The other two are OK, but use pretty old tech now and they've both effectively been replaced with new models.

Has anyone had a go in a Skoda Elroq yet? All the reviews I’ve seen are very positive.
I'm a big fan of Skodas and the Elroq is the latest in a very good line of cars. Best-selling car in the range at the moment and, according to someone the other day, the best-selling EV in the country the other month.

It's like a smaller, very capable Enyaq, which is, in itself, a great car. That or Kia EV3 would be a good choice in that segment.

Does anyone have an Ioniq 5? I’m nearly at the point of pushing the button for one of these quirky cars but I’ve seen ICCU problems mentioned quite a lot.
Thanks in advance

I was looking at the 57kwh id3.

Actually plumped for a Kia e-niro 4+, the extra bit of battery for Brighton and back from Essex was key for me.

Picking it up tomorrow.

Yes - the 2025 model. No issues to date, but I have only had it about 6 weeks. If you are buying an older model, maybe check if the software update has been applied via recall.

Very jealous of the Ioniq 5 owners on here. The MG ZS is doing us proud, and it’s got nothing wrong with it, but the Ioniq 5 was a cut above.

I saw my first new Renault 5 “in the wild” last week too, so UK deliveries have clearly started. That’s another really decent car, though I wish there was a larger battery option.
