Boring By Sea
Annoyed to have missed Dog Race on pier. I was actually on my way there when I realised I didn't have my phone. Cue absolute panic and retracing steps back to hotel where I had (of course) left it! It was too late to get to the gig in time by then.
Were you there when they played Mutations? That was the first time I was aware of them. Really good band and how the lead singer does that chicken head thing is absolute class.

Only seen them once before, at Bedford, so really wanted to see them again.

Worthing
Went yesterday.

Guci - okay, but didn’t get sound check sorted
Eggy - WTF - appalling.
Kita Alexander - very good

Sweet Unrest - excellent, Jaggeresque lead.
Molotovs - excellent. More, more, more such a great track

Field Guide - okay, but bit samey…

Hannah Robinson - okay
The Rolling People - a little disappointing
Eighty eight miles - Brilliant - star performer with……
Sunbeam - also excellent
Rosadocs - was hoping for more

Bit more disjointed yesterday but caught the following from my hazy memory:

Keedz (rapper from South London, was okay but One Church is a very ropey venue imo).
Town of Cats - very good. Fun times.
Buddy Rays - liked them a lot. Very happy to be playing which helps.
Ideal Living - local band. Not for me.
Bit of a break for the cup final and met mates for some beers before rounding off with Nighticket and Radiomars at Patterns as part of a mini China takeover which was nice to see.

A great year with an excellent Friday line up. Already got tickets for Good Health Good Wealth when they play the Hope in November and will keep an eye out for Pan Amsterdam. Huge shout out to The Horrors who were one of the tightest bands I’ve seen in ages.

I decided to do just the free stuff this year and to take it easy as the sun was (mostly) out. It was a great few days of catching new bands as well as supporting local artists that I have seen a few times before.

Worthy mentions:-
YARD at Grand Central
Jock at H&R
Makeshift Art Bar at H&R
Pale Blue Eyes at Shipwright’s Yard
Boko Yout at H&R
The Sick Man of Europe at H&R
Trapps at Shipwright’s
Goodbye at Unbarred
Opal Mag at Pink Moon
Cordelia Gartside at Pink Moon
M.Woodroe at Rossi Bar
The Orchestra (For Now) at Shipwright’s

Not bad at all for a bunch of freebies and I have been on Bandcamp and purchased merch to support a couple of them.

Roll on next year

Forgot to mention most surprising/unusual show for me was Smag Pa Dig Selv at Grand Central who entertained about a dozen of us!

Eggy - WTF - appalling.
That was the one act that my friends and I thought were pretty dreadful.

Didn't see them, but Lacrosse Club were also apparently awful.

I enjoyed Eggy, they were weird as f**k. Real Haight Ashbury west coast vibes for me. I can see how they would elicit a negative view though, a real marmite band if ever there was one, my mate couldn’t stand them either.
