I find it mildly yet consistently irritating that Young MC is known for Bust A Move when among his back catalogue lurks this stone-cold classic.

Lets have a thread of em.

I think the idea is to name one track that outshines all the famous hits of an artist.
Otherwise it becomes a list of big hits people don't like.

I'll bite.
"In a broken dream" by Rod Stewart (with Python Lee Jackson) versus all his crap croony bollocks hits.
And this classic by Aphrodites Child . . . . can you guess who the singer was and what he became?
(clue, not Nottingham Forest owner, despite appearances).

I reckon that most people who are vaguely aware of Warren Zevon think of him only as the 'Werewolves Of London' bloke.

Similarly I reckon a lot of people are only really familiar with 'Wake Up Boo' by The Boo' Radleys; 'Alright' by Supergrass and 'Fairytale Of New York' by The Pogues.

Back in the '80s, Depeche Mode were renowned for their commercial radio-friendly synth-pop singles, pretty-boy image, and regular appearances on TOTP and the cover of Smash Hits.

Yet some of their album tracks were quite dark and heavy, with some slightly pervy lyrics:

Also, most people only know Killing Joke - if they know of them at all - for their mid-80s' hit Love Like Blood, but they have recorded dozens of much better, but decidedly uncommercial, tracks in subsequent years, two of my favourites being:

I presume you mean Demis Roussos who became very fat - oh hang on, you must mean Greek sex God who sang the world buggering hit Forever and Ever.

Oh really? I'd suggest that much of Killing Joke's best and darkest work came earlydoors, tracks such as Requiem, Follow The Leaders and of course the glorious Wardance

Stretching things a bit to call it a huge hit, but the Mountain Goats song that everyone’s heard is “This Year”, which has become a bit of an anthem for those having a shit year.

It’s one of his/their weaker songs. For those drowning in their mental health, the essential listens are “Amy aka Spent Gladiator 1” and “Cry for Judas”

For those moments of joy it’s “Golden Boy”, “The Best Ever Death Metal Band out of Denton”, and “Great Pirates”

And probably for the best.

I love the early stuff, mid stuff and late stuff.

This is late mid. Absolutely brutal track.

The arse end of Hangleton
Patsy Kensit. Hits with Eighth Wonder were very average but she was very decent in Lethal Weapon 2

BTW Do you remember @The Laughing Bluebird, late of this parish, by any chance? Cardiff fan in peace and Killing Joke roadie. We became sort of pen-pals. He used to send me packages of Killing Joke CDs, demos, live gigs, outtakes etc. Think he even came as guest of honour to one of our Meat-Ups once. Top lad!

Excellent. No, that passed me by. Despite my embarrassing tumescent post count, I barely used NSC for 10 years after the reboot. I was....busy....apparently. Hope you're enjoying the sunshine and keeping the gout under control. Mine flared up last week; not what I wanted after the knee replacement
