Watched loads of him now but I can’t believe how much all of Vaughan’s shots and characteristics are like his old man. Remarkably similar. Sadly he also plays lots of fantastic looking 20s and 30s.

Let's get a couple more wickets tonight in the last 12 overs, including Archie Vaughan please.
Somerset 280/6
No chance of that. Zyder Boyz will be pushing 350 as Vaughan eyes up a ton.

Somerset opening with Gregory and a bowler… bizarre
He actually started for us as an opener. I think it was about 2011 when he broke into the side when trescothick was injured. Our opening batsman have been awful for years now. In fact Gregory and davey has as good technique as usual openers.

Looks like another draw unless a side collapses to me. It becomes so hard to get wickets.

Interesting decision to bowl first at Taunton. That fourth innings could be tricky
Fourth innings is arguably the easiest time to bat at Somerset. Worcs batted for a day when only had 5 wickets. We chased about 325 vs Essex on a very very similar looking pitch to this.

It is not like when we tried to produce international players who actually had a technique against spin. Essex cried even though they won the title and have created pitches for harmer for years. So now it is just roads. This is why we have never won the title. That and weather on final day at Durham in 2010 and when Yorkshire and Middlesex got involved in match fixing some years later (and yes I do think contrived matches are match fixing. You remove draw from the equation. So it is fixing a match).

Like his old man then.

Nope. I hardly get down there. I live in Warwick now. I would have been tempted to go tomorrow but I can’t drive there and back in one day with my head as it is (and I have to be home this evening and early Sunday morning).

Many years ago (maybe 2014) I went down to see tres vs Sussex but he got out first over and I had to do the school run and didn’t get in until the third over. We were about 30/5 with magoffin playing skittles. I think Craig Oalmost scored a ton.

Are you from Somerset? How have you ended up with the Allbion?

I grew up in south Devon in the 80s and supported Liverpool because I loved John Barnes in 1988. When I was 10 or 11 so 1990 or so my old man said “you have never been to Liverpool, you might never go to Liverpool, so the rules are you either support Torquay as the local side or Brighton like me”

My old was 6 foot 6 and a strong fella. I was a bit scared of him (although he never hurt me) so I went for Brighton. It worked quite well because during the 90s we were knocking about with Torquay, Exeter and Plymouth so saw loads of games at those places. He was in the navy and we rarely got to the goldstone though. I got mocked throughout school but now those pals send me messages saying “you used to bang on about being a big club in waiting but here we are”

As it happens in the 94/95 season I hardly missed a Torquay home game. Some exciting players with a young Darren Moore and Gregory goodridge playing who played premier league.

Thanks - great to hear how we all end up here! Although I'm not sure I'm aware of anyone else sort of scared into supporting us!

I went to Thailand in 1990, and they didn't know much about England - but they could all recite the Liverpool team and John Barnes was always the first they would name.
