More Greeks. £30m Euros for this one.

€30M euros for a 17 year old, must be half decent. Some murmurs about Abdallah Sima heading in the other direction

If he’s that good, we should be aware of a potential hijack from Notts Forest, given the connection between them and Olympiacos

Didn't Wolves pay £50m for a teenager that failed badly a few seasons ago?
They did - for Fabio Silva - although the fee was inflated for some kind of dodgy backhander nonsense to benefit Jorge Mendes.

He's actually really not a bad player though. He was nowhere near ready when Wolves signed him at 17 (and tried to throw him in) but in his subsequent loan spells he's been decent (and has double figures in La Liga this season). He's now capped by Portugal and is still only 21 or 22 years old.

"50m euros for Joao Pedro" was the moment I filed this under 'made up bullshit'
There's a fair bit of detail in that (Greek) report . That Pedro bit - is a bit of colour at the end . And tbf Pedro is rated at 50m Euros on Transfermarkt which is i think - not sure of my greece to English translation tho - all they're saying.

Do you think he’s worth more? Can’t see it myself decent player but not in the £80m bracket.
Yes.
He is a PROVEN striker in the EPL (and Europe) and he has broken into the Brazil squad. He's 22. He has shown leadership qualities and clearly has a will to win.
How much did ManU pay for Hojland? Pedro is a better player. If Delap didn't have a £30m release clause Ipswich would be asking double. We were talking £100m for Ferguson a year ago.

Anyway my point was the club NEVER divulge what they believe a player to be worth, hence this is made up bullshit.

No. The Pedro bit is made up, at best pure speculation, a) that he will leave us this window, and b) for 50m. If whoever (or whatever) wrote that can make up that bit then why trust the rest of it?
I could ask ChatGPT to create an article, with detail, about any player moving to any club and it would spit out something like that article.

In a fortnight Sima will be a free agent, so what's to swap? I might be wrong.

The Pedro bit for 50m in the article merely says he's rated as 50m Euros on "transfer markets" - or Transfermarkt which he is

The other bits in the article - talk about their source saying Albion started bidding last week at 25m Euros last week and have come back with bigger offer this week , "its close" and they are negotiating bonuses is a sort of detail not normally in those "Albion are tracking , interested, keeping an eye on...xm rated German fella , 17, etc etc" of which yes probably are generated by AI bots.

But hey until this morning i'd never heard of "SportDog" - "Greek's 3rd biggest sport website" - so who knows.

Well. The Pedro bit is unconvincing, but not because of the price. It's the suggestion made that we're making room by giving Pedro's spot to a 17 year old.

I just think we're the go to club for players agents to claim that we're in for them. They are just trying to alert the big boys, that they can get in at the ground level for a change.

For every 10 of these rumours, I reckon 8 of them, we've no interest in the player, 1 of them we do have interest but can't get the deal done, and then 1 of them we go onto sign.

Best not to get too carried away with them

The Pedro bit may well be guesswork, but the pursuit of Kostoulas is unlikely to be.

Like many, I'm sure, I'd never heard of him, but a quick search reveals he is clearly a very highly-rated talent with a whole host of Europe's big clubs linked. Getting in now seems to be the way we are trying to operate now, eg Vitor Reis. We may not get many this way, but we will keep trying.

And if we are looking to spend another £30m+ it does seem likely that he will be a replacement for someone. Any of Pedro, Mitoma, Enciso and Buonanotte could move on this summer.
