A few (tedious, boring) people have jumped on the "I'm a massive pedantic arse" train and decided that's what matters. Disregard them.

Indeed - you don’t want the constant beer journeys during the game but you should be able to sip a pint at the start of each half.

The beer luzzing is a total non issue - any clown doing that would quickly get CCTV’d and have a few games’s ban. They’d learn quickly. The unstewarded away end at Roma was no guide at all

A lot of this is Thatcherite snobbery, you can’t trust the oiks to behave. Set clear boundaries and clear sanctions and they’ll be zero problem

If we are having beer luzzing mitigated by CCTV please can we also retain our bottle tops?!

Came onto this thread to refer exactly to this. There is no way this would be allowed by the Barber Fun Police.

Also people wouldn't throw crisp fivers up in the air at any slightly exciting opportunity so why do it with a crisp lager?!

I used to think allowing this would moderate people's intake as the problems tend to arise due to the stupid nature of the last five minutes before the game three pint bingers but now i've just decided we, as football fans in general, cannot be trusted at all.

My comments were observations, no criticisms. I have no issue with people necking copious pints of lager over 90 minutes, and luzzing it around, but like most things there’s a time and a place…..save this behavior for BoxPark

There’s plenty on here that have said they don’t want it … with lots of different reasons given. It’s my view that I don’t want alcohol in the stands to return. That’s my reasonable and measured approach to this.

Just to add … at Wolves on Saturday I was next to two blokes who had obviously been ‘on it’. When we ‘scored’ our offside goal he just went way over the top with celebrating (not realising it had been disallowed) and threw himself over the two people in front of them … via colliding with me and knocking me into the couple well into their 80s on my other side. The chap in front wasn’t happy and said when we score a goal that actually stands, he didn’t want a repeat performance from pissed up bloke… who when he’d picked himself up was facing me and screaming in my face resulting in spittle on my face. Really not very pleasant.

Just imagine if this chap was allowed beer in the stands. I wonder what might happen when we score

As annoying as that is, people behave how you may not like at the football. Lots of people annoy me at the football, however it doesn’t bother me that much that it lets me think that all football fans act the same. The behaviour at Rugby is appalling on occasion, but they don’t have a ban.

I read @PascalGroß Tips post different. it’s behavior that encroaches significantly and negatively on other fans he doesn’t like. Most fans are fine, and most fans celebrate in a normal and natural way. Sadly there’s a number, like the ones PGTips mentions, who don’t, who celebrate in this new OTT ostentatious and slightly manufactured way, which seriously impacts on others.

After the incident - and the chap in front saying don’t do it again … the chap who did the OTT celebration was then constantly taking the pee out of the bloke in front … hand gestures and mimicking his saying don’t do it again in a very childish immature way.

Here, it's a constant problem. So much so the KNVB (Dutch FA) are doing their very best to stop it.

Point is for me at least, anyone who says things are an 'English' thing do not realise the same thing happens just across the North Sea.


Away fans aren't even allowed to travel freely in The Netherlands, every single match is a bubble match due to fans behaviour and yet there are still issues. I think English football especially is in a lot better state than our European counterparts when it comes to antisocial behaviour.

Indeed. So the view expressed by some that that beer luzzing will never happen because 'CCTV will pick the offenders out and people would be too scared of being banned' is at best wishful thinking and at worst total bollocks.

Cheers. Just thought it was the norm at all grounds. The Coventry play off game last weekend they came back from the break at half time and showed a drone shot of the ground and it looked like half the stadium was outside I assumed having a smoke.

As I said I don't smoke so wouldn't have a clue. Does seem slightly unfair on those that do.

Odd take. If you sit in the most boisterous area of the stadium then you should expect boisterous behavior.

Maybe I’m unusual but I tend to go to a pub to drink and go to the football to watch the football. So the comparison makes no sense to me.

But maybe that’s just me.
