Squad announced. Robbo is in it - and Danny Lamb is back. No Crowcombe though

As expected, McAndrew is in but Karvelas and Hayes both keep their places. Carter remains in the squad too.

With seven seamers in the squad, expect quite a few to drop out.

What do people think "should" be the make up of a bowling attack in a First Class game?

To my mind, ideally there should be three seamers and two spinners, and if the conditions don't allow that then the conditions aren't right.

The beauty of cricket is that that is an impossible question to answer.

Different pitches, different times of year, different weather, different opponents.

That said, the tried and trusted classic of ...... Three seamers, one of which is express, one left armer if possible, plus a spinner. Ably backed up by a genuine all rounder and one or two up top who can send down a few half decent off breaks ..... is never going to be a terrible option

I got distracted by a load of Guiness shortly after posting the question, but yes I'd broadly agree that you want a mix of options.

I should probably admit that I was mainly looking for an excuse to slag off Surrey for regularly picking about 5 seamers and no full time spinner.

Edit: and I do in all seriousness think that conditions in England should more regularly allow for two proper spinners to be picked.

McAndrew gets his first of the season

Is it just me or has the stream become very jumpy in the last few minutes?

Watching (and listening!) to the Somerset stream on YT and I'm glad I'm not the only one who is struggling with their commentary!

Pro - infinitely better picture quality and production than Sussex
Con - these two muppets fawning over anything and everything Somerset do even to the extent that one of them faked orgasm over a bog standard forward defensive.

It's bordering on sycophantic - where's Adrian :geek:
