I suspect he'll continue to run in circles, like a deranged hampster in a wheel.
Putin is playing him like a fiddle. He has no interest in peace unless it's on his terms. Trump will be unable to persuade Ukraine or their European allies to accept Putin's victory.
So round and round we go again with more Trumpian hot air and bullshit.

You may be right but it will be interesting to see Trump’s response. Putin’s deliberate choice of a low level delegation is flipping the middle finger at the west, including Trump.

Let's face it Russia has absolutely no intention to negotiate, they will do the same as they have so far, set out their demands, take it or leave it. The whole thing today is just a charade. Token gesture. Pretend negotiations. Witless will say their demands are reasonable, convince Trump (without much difficulty) it's Ukraine being difficult and he should support Russia.
Feeling very cynical this morning but everything Russia and Trump does makes me despair.
