Great win despite missing a bit of quality in the bowling attack. Robinson probably deserved a few more wickets, and Karvelas and FHP stepped up. Probably would have been punished against any other side in the division.

Up to 3rd - GOSBTS!
No probably about it .
MacAndrew is coming in though, and crocombe. We can’t play Hayes again.
Actually , given Robinson was in pieces it was amazing we got a win (even given quality of opposition )

Hayes did play a vital role though with an unbeaten 33 runs in the first innings and a spectacular catch. Hopefully he'll have good memories of playing for us.

He is not up to it as a strike bowler or containing bowler, which Simpson picked up on very quickly.
But, yes, at the same time he made a match winning contribution.
It’s a funny quirk of cricket.
Like when Ian Salisbury scored a half century on his England debut - and was immediately dropped iirc!

I'm pleasantly surprised at how competitive we seem to be across the games so far. Batting and bowling looks decent.

We've only got one batting point in the last two games - out of a possible 10 - and haven't got a maximum yet (despite playing on a road at Edgbaston and against Surrey at Hove).

But I thought our bowling was excellent today. The pitch had flattened considerably and a lot of the Worcs batters were well set. I thought it was all over for us mid-afternoon but they stuck at it.

And I think this is the key. The number of times in recent years I’ve seen us just crumble and lose any attacking intention are many. We have a lot more spirit to go with improved skill.
