[Food] Starter, Main, Dessert

Most of the time I’ll go for starter and main as I prefer savoury to sweet. However, menu permitting I might go for mains and dessert particularly if sticky toffee pudding ons offer. What’s your favourite combo?

I love cheese but I do agree with Jay Rayner that, in a restaurant, it’s a triumph of shopping.

I mean, I'd say starter and main if I had to pick two, but if you randomly threw in a pudding that I fancied I'd obviously not turn it down unless I was suffering from some sort of diabolical digestion issue.

In the Ivy on Thursday afternoon i had just a main of Beef Fillet accompanied by a delicious truffle potato purée, creamed spinach & asparagus. I didn’t have any room for dessert but found some room for a second Old Faithful. On a side note I had a couple goodbye drinks in Browns opposite which rather sadly is now closed.

Things which do excite me are old school desserts like creme brûlée, trifle or treacle tart. I did have an apple ice cream with white apple chocolate a few months back; that was great. Otherwise it’s some rank cheeses.
