[Albion] Which of the current squad do you consider to be all-time Albion legends?

He seems much more connected to the Albion than Palace. He'd definitely have a lot of affection for them understandably but does a lot more "ex player" stuff for us

I am not denying that he is a very likeable and classy guy btw. It’s not a criticism of him I just think he has more of an affinity with Palace from listening to him commenting on games. I doubt we’ll ever know for sure.

Totally agree. Whenever I’ve encountered GM, he’s always been unfailingly polite and down to earth. And I’ve never got vibes of him favouring Palace over the Albion.

As for legends in the current squad, it’s Dunk by a mile. He’s been a fantastic servant to the club.

Disagree. Their goals were that crucial to the club's continuing to be able to exist that they qualify by extension shirley. These two unremarkable journeyman players would otherwise be long forgotten to the mists of time. Instead they are known to every single Albion 'legacy fan' on planet Earth

Agreed - but it still totals more than Welbeck at 31, which is the stat everyone talks about as being our 'highest scorer in the PL'. (And more prolific).

Couple more seasons (possibly seeing out his career?) with us and 50+ PL goals in an Albion shirt would surely secure legend status? I’d argue he’s most of the way there already tbh.

I always feel there has to be a narrative alongside the football prowess. Dunk is the single club local lad who took us through the divisions and into Europe. Ward the free scoring striker who took us to the top flight and became our first England player. Fozzie the rock solid centre back who took us to a cup final, went to a World Cup and had that iconic headband. Etc etc. Nobby doesn’t quite cut it.

Really? He cut it enough to be probably our greatest ever captain and penalty taker whilst leading the players by driving force to the top division no more exemplified than by Newcastle 1979.

But 19 goals for a 20 year old, who’d been deemed an expensive flop 12 months before, and in a team who only stayed up on the last day, after effectively coming back from the dead and winning 4 straight games I think is an amazing stat.

The following season, alongside Andy Ritchie, achieved the then to date highest ever top flight finish, and then finally his last, scored the winner in the FA Cup semi final. ( Perhaps not mention that many think he shouldn’t have passed to Smith but shot himself at Wembley in the 120th minute)

Like Murray, he oozed class off the pitch, in fact probably one of the nicest Albion players I ever met.

Maybe I am a dinosaur in some ways, but IMHO he’s an Albion legend every day of the week, and twice on a Sunday

This is all down to peoples definitions.

For me, to really be a proper Brighton legend you have to spend a good part of your best years here.

It comes down to at the end of your career, do people picture you as a player in the Brighton kit or another teams?

Caisado one of the best to put on a Brighton shirt. But not here long enough and left before his prime.

I'd say the same for MacAlister unfortunately. Love the guy to bits, but he'll be remembered as a Liverpool legend, not a Brighton one.

Dunk, Solly etc. no question.

Welbeck I think still could become one. A few more seasons and all his best stats at Brighton...

Same to Mitoma. And JPvH.

Hinsh is nowhere near his prime, so way too soon to even be near the list.

Doesn’t need a lengthy explanations about the meaning of ‘legend’ for me - he’s done the time - 15 years, with 6 of those as Skipper (488 appearances for the Club). The Duffy-Dunk partnership was integral to us defending our PL status under Hughton and he continues to give his all both on and off the pitch (despite his age and increasing injury related under-performances at times), directing players at the back and supporting youngsters. A really decent bloke.

A few potentials in there, but Lewis's status is already cemented as an Albion legend. Not sure if testimonials are still a thing but it would be nice if his contribution to the club could be recognised with a pre-season game before he hangs up his boots.
