Clearly a bit of a marmite personality who can rub people the wrong way, and injuries or not he didn't shower himself in glory in the final months here, taking little pops at the club and refusing to acknowledge his own role in the long run of bad form. But I'll always be grateful for him taking us to Europe and the best season in our history.

The war chest was clearly available for summer 2024, but RDZ showed his attitude and Tony decided to entrust that money to someone else. I firmly believe that it was RDZ's behaviour that led to him leaving more so than the poor results. Maybe he'd have done better with this lot of players, but maybe it just wasnt worth dealing with such a difficult bloke.
Agreed. He was ultimately disrespecting the owner. That might not be a problem at most clubs but at Brighton, where the owner has invested hundreds of millions of his own cash and seen the club steadily rise up the league, that's a very high risk strategy. As you say, the money was there but why would Bloom hand it over to a guy that was making not so coded remarks against him?

You'll note I draw a distinction between disrespecting the owner and the club. In terms of the team and the supporters, he gave us sanction to dream like never before, for which I'll always be grateful.

It was a wonderful, spectacular ride, but sadly all too short.

I don’t worship players or managers my good friend. I appreciate good footballers and managers who entertain me, we watch football and pay to be entertained right?
What is laughable is comparing 45 minutes of football in a game we ultimately lost to finishing top 6.
About as laughable as an experienced manager arrogant enough to blow any chance of progression into the latter stages of the Europa League with naive and foolhardy look at my style of football tactics in Rome

We could still end up 8th this season too btw, whilst I have had my doubts about FH he does seem to be learning and his refusal to moan about anything is laudable imo, in fact it’s bloody refreshing after last season‘s tantrums from the manager.

Three points for Marseille to stay in second. Late finish as the game was delayed for around 20 mins due to some crowd issues after Marseille's first. Certainly didn't dampen De Zerbi's celebrations for the third goal...

Are you suggesting that Hurzeler chose who to sign or that if de Zerbi had stayed we’d have signed different players? Maybe the manager / coach has some say and if de Zerbi had stayed our signings would have been 9/10 the same and 1/10 different.

Apologies if I’ve misunderstood the point you were making. But I’ve read so many comments along the lines of “imagine what de Zerbi would have done with £200m” as if the manager/ coach has that much influence over signings.

Some will still moan and groan he had the audacity to want to compete in the Europa league and league by asking for a some help in the transfer window.
Comparing Fabian to RDZ is laughable ones a football manager.
If (and ok it’s a big if) we win our next two we’ll finish on 61 points. RDZ finished on 62 and 48 points. We’ve also had injury problems this year that are very similar to what RDZ season 2 experienced.

I loved RDZ but please don’t write off Hurzeler.

Did you think it was laughable the way we played Liverpool off the park at Anfield in a 45 minute display that was up there with anything we played under RDZ? One is a novice, the other an experienced manager, writing FH off as laughable whilst continuing to worship a manager who gave up is very harsh.
The problem is that Justice has painted himself into a corner and doesn't have the fortitude to admit he is wrong.

Alas I feel like he will continue to clog up the board as his alleged opinion continues to be disproven.

Of course he only has to keep up while Hurtz is with us, when he leaves he will triumphantly declare 'see told you so' 😂

Like playing chess with a pigeon 😂

Stopped clock is right twice a day. Fab now has the same PPG has RDZ had when finishing 6th. Not bad when you’re not a football manager.*

To continue to hold what are being proven to be more and more absurd views about your club's manager, as you demand to be constantly entertained you have to look away and ignore the positives (including times you have been entertained). Including the 45 minutes at Liverpool.

You have rushed to a conclusion and are cherry picking the necessary evidence to continue to double down on it. It's hard to climb down when you have been clogging up the board with it for so long.

Are you looking forward to next season? I think it could be a belter, can't wait.

Not bad at all in a Premier League that is arguably more difficult than RdZ's, with far more injuries, a manager that is clueless and players who are all shit.

Still I expect we'll get relegated next season 😂

This is an unfortunate rhetorical sleight of hand to say you are “writing off xxx” when you are in fact arguing that one thing may be better than another thing

Tottenham have had RDZ on their radar for a while according to a report although Roberto wants to stay at Marseille.
It makes sense CV wise to at least give a club two seasons unless something big has changed the situation. Rob will have plenty job offers back in the EPL but he doesn’t need to grab the first one

No, I'm suggesting Bloom was going to spend the money one way or another, but didn't trust de Zerbi to act professionally, so decided that he would make that splurge for a new manager instead. Maybe "entrust" was the wrong word to use.

Although RDZ did supposedly have some say in a few signings, Dahoud and Fati, and look how they went!

RDZ has said he had already talked to a couple of the summer signings in January Wieffer and one other. Considering the signings are normally planned well in advance they were going to happen regardless.
