[TV] VPN on Fire TV advice

There is something I am desperate to watch on PBS tonight, which is region locked to the USA.

There is a PBS app on the Fire TV which is also region locked (unavailable), where I’m hoping the show has been uploaded.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to proceed? I’m thinking I need a VPN set to USA through my fire stick in order to download the PBS app and watch the show?

Any recommendations or help would be hugely appreciated

Most providers offer a 7 day trial. Do that and make sure it works, before deciding if you want it as a long term solution. It should work. When I’m abroad, a VPN to the Uk allows me to watch bbc channels which would otherwise be geographically restricted

Well I got on the VPN in America, now when I click to download the PBS app it just says “app not found” instead of “unavailable”.

Lovely stuff.

How technical are you? If you fancy getting your hands dirty you can try installing Kodi and then there’s a PBS Live add on for that which might get you what you’re after

- open up Amazon in incognito mode
-set VPN to USA
-open up new Amazon account but make sure it it's.a USA one and the flag is an American one
-log into that on the fire stick. Download a VPN and set to USA
-find whatever it is you are looking for. The region specific apps should be there.

There’s no setting to change this unfortunately

I have a working VPN now, the issue I’m having is downloading the PBS app using it on my Fire TV (which I regret buying)

This ^^^^ Use Nord on my Firestick in France - set to UK and I can watch any BBC stuff I like. And for those that disapprove - I PAY for a UK TV licence.

For Fireticks the best solution is to download Kodi, install two or three addons. I use Express VPN and also Real Debrid. Bob's your uncle for anything from around the world. Very cheap too.
