O'Riley is quite frustrating isn't he. Gets into great positions - but then doesn't seem to quite know what to do with it.

Great first half to watch.
He’s absolutely terrified of taking a touch on the ball, because in previous games he has been caught out over and over like this.

Pretty much every touch of his has been a first time pass backwards or square, because he simply hasn’t got the time he is used to.

Wieffer was exactly the same early days, looking terrified of being caught in the ball leading to blind first time passes and losing possession. He has improved leaps and bounds as the season has progressed with this.

I think O’Riley’s lack of pace is a real issue because he’s having to think a step ahead about how to get around his physical shortcomings.

I fear for him a bit.

We’ve defended well and put together some fast flowing attacking sequences - Weiffer doing well in RB -

O’Riley has had a good first half but really wish he’d play facing the goal more and make an attempt to recover possession occasionally. I think he’ll be going out on loan in the Summer - he doesn’t have the physicality for the PL yet IMO.

Lamps looking solid but we need Mitoma on and Minteh back on the right to get a cushion.

Both teams fighting for a place in Europe is making for some good football though..

I agree with all that. Except the pace bit. He's not a slouch. If anything it's his decision making that's slow. I'd rather have Hinsh on and Ayari up there.

Good first half. Exciting football. Both teams playing well.

We deserve to be winning, they've had more chances - but we've had better ones.

A joke that the penalty got struck off - as it didn't touch Minteh and it was going in despite him.

...but justice was served as it was a clear penalty - delighted for Welbz.

Wieffer looking a real menace. Van Hecke = IMMENSE, riding the high of his POTS award.

O'Riley working hard, but not paying off for him yet. It's coming though. Watch this space.

Need a second goal. Bring on the 2nd half.

I do love the fact that your analysis of the first half has got a thumbs up from Stevie Wonder :lolol:

We need to win this as I can see the three around us winning today.

It’s a good game so far, waiting for Oliver for screw us over though…

How does it work?
IMG_4686.jpeg

Specifically “the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball or a challenge for the ball”.

Outside the box, it would be a free-kick and a red card. Inside the box, the “double jeopardy” application applies due to the tackle he made being conceivably a feasible attempt at playing the ball.

If he’d pushed him over, it would’ve been a red, because you can’t make a legal tackle by pushing someone from behind with your hands.

And this law will be exactly the same next time this happens, and the next time, and the time after that.

Very messy game but we deserve the lead. Wolves very average at the moment, not knowing what to do with their possession, basically a whole team of O'Rileys. My only worry is we have been giving the ball away a bit cheaply at times in our own half

Losing 50/50s more than giving the ball away imo

Not understanding the hate for O’Riley, he has played pretty well imo
