Watched Sinners and it’s a 6/10 for me. It doesn’t seem to know quite what it wants to be, with the film split into two really. It’s perfectly enjoyable as a one off, but not the type of film that would get a rewatch.

Flow 9/10

One of the most beautiful animated films I’ve ever seen, won the international film Oscar so has been suitably garlanded but doubt anything will top it for my film of the year. It has ecological themes and maybe there’s some subtle satire on racism too but mostly it’s just a great adventure story that will have you on the edge of your seat and maybe with tears in your eyes

Despite some not-so-kind reviews. I really enjoyed The Penguin Lessons.

Coogan is great in this quite simplistic but moving fillum, great use of a Nick Drake classic and a spec or two of dust in the eye at the end.

A little Dead Poets Society going on too.

Recommended, and rather lovely.

Saw this yesterday with my two sons (one has just finished uni, the other is in the final stretch) and really enjoyed it. At the moment, wondering if it is my favourite Marvel film? It had a nice blend of fair realism (for a film like this) along with a sensible amount of humour. Marvel normally inject some levity into proceedings which is probably one good reason I don't enjoy the bland, far too serious DC fare.

As ever, Florence Pugh (so not a film star's name!) is excellent - don't think I've seen her turn in anything but a great performance in things.

I'm not up to speed (neither are my sons) in all the different characters/worlds etc., which seem to be - like Star Wars - subject to multiple spin off series on Disney+ (which we don't have) but I didn't think it mattered. Worked pretty well with having no prior knowledge of any of the characters.

Despite its 2hr+ run time, it flew past with no baggy bits in the middle. And as typical for a Marvel film, there's a mid-credit and post-credit scene. And for a change, the post-credit is worth seeing (assuming you liked the film).

Looking forward to this.

And I’m genuinely a man who believes Marvel films are almost unwatchable.
