Genuine question, has it ever been the case that the teams who got relegated from the top tier weren’t the strongest in the division? Providing they weren’t in a basket case spiral, the relegated sides are always favourites for promotion in any league - was the gulf between the championship and league one to big this season?

Newcastle went down twice and walked back without breaking a sweat. West Ham and Sunderland used to do it as well. West Brom, Watford and Norwich have made their names as yoyo clubs long before the gulf seemed so big.

Bristol City limped into the playoffs with 1 win in 5 amassing 22 points less than Sheffield United. Could it just be that Bristol City weren’t good enough to compete for promotion this season rather than it be a premier league induced gulf?

In the PL, I’d say that next year, Burnley and Leeds may struggle but both have strong enough squads to compete and owners who will likely back the club (unlike the three promoted sides this year).
Leeds could be a problem now they are owned by Redbull.

I'm hoping Sunderland go up, as it's the only ground out of the 4 in the playoffs that I haven't been to yet. Would be great to explore Weardale whilst up there.

Shocking back pass from Coventry left well short for Sunderland player to take the gift. Hopefully, its not over and Coventry can get a result at Sunderland
The amazing thing is the lad actually LOOKED before playing that disastrous backpass, he didn't do it blind.
I hope Cov turn it round in the second leg.

As to the thread, ANYONE but Sheffield please. OK, it was fun smashing them at their place twice, but by god they absolutely stunk the place out, and I don't want to see that miserable b@stard Wilder grizzling every bloody week again on MOTD with a face like Dot Cotton licking piss off a nettle.

Cov for me as my wife is from there. I'm fact I was in Cov on Thursday for a funeral. 😔 Hopefully they can get back on track in the next leg.

Yeah anyone but Sheffield. A good enough day out but would be really boring if they became another yo yo club.

Anyone pining for Coventry should probably understand that their ground is as bad as the Amex to get to. Six miles from the city centre with one train an hour from the stadium station. Good if you drive or get the coach. A right slog by train. But I’d probably still like them to do it. Been through a lot similar to us with ground sharing and some terrible ownership by SISU.

I wouldn't mind any of them. I feel guilty for saying this as he played for us, but Chris Wilder irritates and bores me, so perhaps not them. I do like the fact they're much better than Wednesday though.

Sunderland away might be fun. Big ground, long way away - tickets might even be available to people other than the usual top tier Albion++ premium members and STHs or whatever.

Cov would be great - lots to respect there - a club who have been through similar to us.

Bristol City - it's not happening anymore is it, and they aren't good enough to repeat the trick next season imo.
