Just slips out sometimes in unguarded moments... Dolphinarium
Attributed to Winston Churchill:My obsessive refusal to end any sentence in a preposition requires me to use the word 'whom' quite a lot.
In my mind this happens almost like a Tourette’s style outburst. “What’s for dinner tonight love? I really fancy fish and DOLPHINARIUM. Sorry.”Just slips out sometimes in unguarded moments... Dolphinarium
To be fair, "batter" goes back to the 1700s (apparently, but even in the absence of an actual source for that it sounds like the sort of thing that people think are Americanisms but are actually just old words) https://www.cricket.co.uk/glossary/. If I had to guess I'd probably pick that as the older word than batsman.I still use that quaint old word "Batsman" to describe the player holding the bat in Cricket. I keep hearing/reading them referred to as "Batters"!
Now ‘thrice’ is a word you don’t hear much. I can’t claim to use it, but I do like it.The word 'twice', everyboby says 'two times' now.
Nit twit
Most days my dog gets called this.
Don’t know TBH, I’m not sure my dog is botheredIsn't it nitwit? Unless I've been saying it wrong all my life...
