European Cumbath 28.

A philosophical observation of the efficiency of working class tradesmen when dealing with solutions for underdressed housewives with a leaky washer in the bedroom en-suite.

Good to see that the solution was gas tight too.

Bath, Somerset.
Second vote for 'Zone of Interest' that definitely stayed with me for a while after seeing it.

Also will add 'Under The Skin' - well trippy............
A third vote from here - watched it a few days after visiting Auschwitz, last December.

The Hunt with Mads Mikkelsen, I used to work in an environment where staff were vulnerable to false accusations (thankfully not children).

Eden Lake, made me over think this type of situation for a while.

Nothing comes close to 'Come and See' in bringing the Nazi atrocities close to home...
So disturbing yet brilliantly made

I can remember seeing Soldier Blue when I was about 15 as being the moment I started to question so much that I was being taught in school. I've never been able to watch it since then.
Not sure if it counts as a film but The Naked Civil Servant had quite an impact as well.
Was also going to say Soldier Blue. Massive eye opener. Think every Yank of European decent should watch it and question the treatment of native Americans.

Reservoir Dogs - amoral brutality throughout - a quite chilling portrait of how some people 'live' their lives.

Could never listen to Steelers Wheel in the same way after watching the torture scene..

Silent Running - beautiful, thought provoking film starring Bruce Dern.
The Last Picture Show - Peter Bogdanovich's black & White masterpiece of small town America in the 1950's.

Hard Candy. It’s is the most squeamish I have ever felt in the cinema, which provoked many personal thoughts as to why. I guess it’s controversial in some senses. Amazing, tense and psychological and great acting from Ellen Page.
Was trying to remember the name of this film as I saw it a few years ago. The first twenty minutes or so was quite uncomfortable. Very good film.

I saw Cuckoo’s Nest in 1976 in Oxford. At the end of the film everybody stood up and applauded.

More recently, Nomadland with the wonderful Frances McDormand - a hugely human film

Watched it and knew I could never survive borstal.
Brutal film and underrated. The Archer character stole the show for me! It was just incredible dialogue with the prison wardens, the length of the chain speech always stuck with me and his “being drawn to Mecca” chat cracks me up. It’s up there with Made in Britain 1983 a young Tim Roth who gave his acting masterpiece at such young age.

Any British public information film from the 70s and 80s. Absolutely harrowing watching these in between Rainbow and Let's Pretend.
