Argus spectacularly missing the main story .... all elevations of the block of flats are leaning outwards to the point of collapse.
From the Argus article - "The incident appears to have involved one vehicle."

I should imagine the police officers attending the scene were quite keen to review the phone activity of the driver immediately prior to them departing the carriageway, mounting the traffic island and obliterating a 30 foot tall lamp post.

Found to be actively posting on social media related to a Brighton based PL club, but for privacy reasons they won't mention the club or website.

A coincidence, @Mellotron drives a car that looks exactly like that.

For full disclosure, I only passed my test in my late 20s, never needed a car up until this point. As previously mentioned I only drove for 2 years and picked up 2 speeding tickets quite early into my driving career, consectutive days in the exact same place at the bottom of a big hill in Wycombe. Whilst I felt I was taking care with my speed, from this moment onwards I took extra care.
No need for full disclosure, Tubs. My light hearted little dig
was just that.😊👍
Full disclosure from me, the last time I had an encounter with Plod on the roads was many years ago when I was driving through a village up in Staffordshire and was pulled me over for driving too slowly. I explained that I was not from these parts and was looking for a particular road. Friendly Mr.Plod gave me directions and rapidly sped off past me.😁

Driving is all about considering the conditions. I drive over speed limit on motor ways when they are quite and I know there are no cameras. When busy and conditions are poor would more than likely drive under limit. I often think country roads with no cameras are the most dangerous and often limit is too high.
Biggest danger I see is tailgating and driver who as soon as they indicate feel they have a right to come out. Apart from speeding i would think nobody gets done for bad driving which is a pity.
You seem to be contradicting yourself. Firstly you talk about driving considering the conditions and then you complain that some country roads have too high a limit!

It is a limit and not a target. You drive considering the conditions up to a maximum of the limit for the road. Limits on country roads tend to be national limit but it is up to the driver to properly assess the conditions and drive at the appropriate speed! There would be two alternatives to this. The country road has a limit that reflects the recommended speed for the worst part for it's entire length, eg some bends in the road might mean it's 30. The other alternative is that you have considerably more changes in the speed limits and therefore more signs everywhere!

I am sure the 'sat nav' providers could build in the speed limits so you wouldn't need a limiter just the voice telling you you are over the speed limit
My car alerts me if I go 1 mph over the speed limit, then re-reminds me when I drop my speed by 1mph then drift back up 1mph. I turn this 'handy' feature off as it's bloody annoying and instead rely on my own commonsense to watch and maintain the speed limits...

I'm proud of what I birthed. I regret nothing.

(Except all the speeding.)
It’s a great thread, you’ve got advice, there’s a classic pile-on but it’s been reasonable and polite teasing at worst , @birthofanorange has taken it in good nature, and there’s also the wit of @Bry Nylon . Just need some puns to complete it…..

Hmmm....not sure that I did, as I went for a fast drive along the coast road this morning to get it out of my system, when suddenly....

I agree , I was only responding to someone who was inventing something that would limit the car....

My car has none of the fancy gizmos

I get a verbal message reminding me to use my handbrake which after 40 years of driving I think I know, but can, I find anywhere in the manual about how to turn it off..no 🤦‍♂️

So when does @birthofanorange get to check other stuff while driving? Eg fuel gauge, engine water temp, rear view mirror, etc.

When you drive, you have to continuously visual scan and some of that scan time must be speedometer but not to the detriment of all the other stuff you also have to scan.

Why do I feel like I've been whooshed?
