At least you're in the right age to show an interest......when will they appoint a younger Pope ?I'm well into my 80's so this could be the last Papal election I see. Each to their own but quite understand its not for you.
Good point. Can I just add I watch this not for religious reasons but for me this is like watching General election or USA president. These are important moments in my historyAt least you're in the right age to show an interest......when will they appoint a younger Pope ?
Probably never. Most cardinals fancy a go themselves at some point, so appointing a 40 year-old pope would mean no more chances for the next several decades. At least you're in the right age to show an interest......when will they appoint a younger Pope ?
Based on knowing nothing about it, but having watch Conclave, I think it ends when they are done. They'll vote, count the votes, announce the results (only to the Conclave) and then decide if they fancy having another vote or knock it off for the day. I read that they only expect a single vote today, so it'll be done when it's done.I know the black smoke white smoke thing, but is there a set time for smoke. ie do they stop at 8 pm and declare then if they've made a desicion?
If not, what causes the black smoke to be burnt?
Watching and slow hand clap from crowd.
Finally lording it over AS Roma in their own backyard
They burn the ballots and use cartridges in a separate flue to colour the smoke.I know the black smoke white smoke thing, but is there a set time for smoke. ie do they stop at 8 pm and declare then if they've made a desicion?

I agree about the allowing priests to marry bit, and about women priests. I am a member of the Methodist Church which has had women ministers for several decades. You're actually watching it ? Sad
Until they appoint a woman Pope (never going to happen) and allow Catholic Priests to marry, thus hopefully stopping the children abuse, then I would be happy. How many of their flock at Sunday masses worldwide are married ?
The 80 year old cardinals and older arenāt allowed to take part in the conclavewhat do they do to make white vs black smoke? I guess a bit of tyre for the black smoke, but it will have to get a bit of heat before it goes black, so could be white before it goes black? Oh the intrigue.
Also, they are not allowed out until they have elected. Where do 80 year olds sleep in the cistern chapel? There are 180 of them. Sleeping in the pews? No comfy beds, camp beds brought in? Does someone cook for them, or they cook over the voting slips with a rubberesq flavour, or bags of crisps?
I bet one of them has sneaked a phone in to watch the Arse under his sleeping bag.what do they do to make white vs black smoke? I guess a bit of tyre for the black smoke, but it will have to get a bit of heat before it goes black, so could be white before it goes black? Oh the intrigue.

Literally just answered 2 posts up. They use coloured cartridges to make the black and white smoke - the ballot papers are burned separately.what do they do to make white vs black smoke? They arenāt locked in the Sistine Chapel for a week! . Mind you, with a name like the āCisternā Chapel as you called it, guess having a plss wonāt be much of a problem
All the Cardinals stay in a guest house attached to St Peterās Basilica in the Vatican - nuns prepare their food and they sleep in rooms. They are driven to the Chapel each day by bus.

I really donāt think priests āwatching the Arseā would be a good move in light of recent history!!I bet one of them has sneaked a phone in to watch the Arse under his sleeping bag.
Give Conclave a watch, and all will be explained!what do they do to make white vs black smoke? I guess a bit of tyre for the black smoke, but it will have to get a bit of heat before it goes black, so could be white before it goes black? Oh the intrigue.
