Exactly - why we would probably have a better chance of getting Champions League football through this route than our chances of finishing top four/five in the EPL or winning a domestic cup …

Like most of this season you mean without the European football?

In 2023/24 after the Europas, we finished in 11th place (mid-table) - this season, we are on course for a similar finishing position with the same number of injuries in key areas over the season unless there is a radical change of fortune.

We are ‘bang average’ in the Premier League, that’s what a mid-table club is and what we are (which is a great achievement in itself) - if there is an opportunity (any opportunity) to compete at the highest level in European football, fans should be jumping at the chance.(IMHO!)
Plus, not only do you win a major trophy, you earn Europa League the following season. What’s the point of going for any European competition if someone is worried about playing midweek. If the group stage of the conference is easy, then a brilliant opportunity for squad/fringe players to get game time.

Absolutely.

It's way too early in our latest Prem adventure to be picky about it not being the "best" European competition. ANY European competition is incredible for us, especially when we would have a very strong chance of winning and getting Europa League.

I would be very happy if we snaffled Europa League Conference qualification this season.

Well we want a trophy don’t we? And that’s a trophy is it not.

I appreciated that Noahs ark or the mighty Petrol club or New Saints aren’t in it, but it can’t be those level of glamour games every week can it!

Imagine playing at home to the 5th best team in Armenia. It’s what dreams are made of really!
We want a trophy, except for the Europa Conference - obviously.

Absolutely, chance at a first trophy and some more money in the pot!

League stage qualification - £2.6m
League stage wins - £330k per win (almost £2m if you win all six league stage games)
Knock-out play-offs round qualification - £168k
Round of 16 qualification - £675k
Quarter final qualification - £1.1m
Semi-final qualification - £2.1m
Reaching the final - £3.5m
Winning the final - £2.5m

Around £15m up for grabs if you go all the way.

As per @El Presidente (and who are we to argue), from a financial perspective, there is little (if any) financial advantage to a "team like Brighton" competing in the Europa Conference League, even if you win it:-

It is insane to think people are voting no to this.

I accept the competition is not as glamorous as the alternatives, but what is the point in supporting Brighton if you don't even want that?
Because it jeopardises the chances of use staying in the PL and domestic cups, all of which are 10 * as important
as some poxy, bollox Europa cup that nobody really respects. That's why.

What is the evidence of that?

Didn't do West Ham much harm, did it? A team much bigger than ours?
No evidence. But would you like to put our "injury-prone" squad through 5-10 more games than most other
PL clubs? We struggle as it is. I don't and for some meaningless "money making" tinpot cups scheme by UEFA
I don't want to risk it.

What is the point of staying in the PL if it isn’t to get into European competition? Is that really all we want, stay up every year?

I would much rather win the Conference League than the league cup.

Is it ok to risk it for the Europa League or the Champions League? Even though the intensity of those games could be even more of a risk to our injury ravaged squad than the Conference League?

Extra games are a risk no matter what so we may as well resign ourselves to always finishing 9th and going out of the cups early so we don’t risk anything.

Risk what exactly? For what?

Is it meaningless if we win it, or one of the biggest achievements in our club history?
