Some of these I started using ironically and became part of my vocabulary, some I’ve always used and never switched to the modern version.

Clicker - (TV, hi-fi, blu-Ray) remote control

Flickers/talkies - movies

Pocketbook - purse/handbag

Tape/taping - recording a TV programme

Dictaphone - everything I record into such as phone, laptop mic

And my personal favourite - icebox - refrigerator

Great idea for a thread! I still talk about videoing and Hoovering...
We refer to our ‘hoover’ as ‘suck up’ … which is what a couple of young French school lads that were staying with us when we had foreign students back in the early ‘90s called it. They were cleaning/tidying their bedroom at the end of their stay - amazing, I know - and they didn’t know the English word for vacuum cleaner … they were doing the actions (Freddie Mercury style) and kept saying suck up. So it stuck with us.
